SEO & comments: a few questions

Hi guys,

I'm new at grey hat SEO and I'm just getting used to it. I've red a bit everywhere that commenting high PR pages was a great thing to do. However there's something that I don't understand: what kind of links am I suppose to generate. Nofollow links such as those created when you fill in the website field in wordpress ? Comment Luv ? Or am I suppose to put a link within my comment using "a href" ?

It might be obvious for those of you working in that field for a while already but for me it's not and I want to learn. I don't get the logic here. Why is it so great to put nofollow links in comments ?

People who do high PR blog commenting probably take the time to find blogs and blog platforms(drupal for instance) that allow you to place a do follow link in either the name or comment field.

The link in the comment field has one big advantage - you can give it any anchor text you want (or none, just a plain link...) compared with the name link, where the comment probably wont get approved, since admins, especially on high PR sites, dont like audience with names such as "cheap nike shoes" etc.

BTW dont shun no-follow.. they do have a very big potential.

Never underestimate the power of no-follow links. They are really good and give you some really nice "juice".

I agree with you we can't avoid no follow links.... And what i can say is

no follow links and do follow links should be given equal importance

To be honest, I had no idea nofollow links were important. I always tought they were a loss of time and efforts to get. Guess I'll be learning a lot in the upcoming months testing all those new strategies with Scrapebox. Really cool program ahead if you ask me !

Put your link wherever you want to; if there's a website field already, just paste it in and if there's a html field, you can <a href= it with your choice of anchor text.

A few things to remember:

- vary your keywords, urls and anchor text a lot (url e.g. Spaceships.com, spaceships.com/brands, SpaceShips.com/Brands)(keyword e.g. buy spaceships online, look at this spaceship, cheap spaceship repairs)(anchor text e.g. spaceship parts, check this out, my favourite site)

- spread out the nofollow and do-follow links

- avoid spamming your site directly, spam your higher quality direct links instead

The idea is to keep it varied so that all links look natural (as if random people could have made them), then Google will be happy.

You know what you are talking about: no doubt about that ! I was doing exactly what I wasn't supposed to. Two different anchors, always the same url and of course directly to my website.... I wans't lying when I said I was a newbie ^^

Ok I'll sort that out and send the links to my best directory articles insteed.
