Hello,

I am planning to make website for Website Development, Can I do SEO before designing/opening my website?
like creating some backlinks, submitting guest posts, writing articles for articles directories.
Is this a good idea?

I would also love to see the essential task of SEO before opening a website, I searched in forum but nothing found except one article.

Thank you

If you have determined your niche.
Go ahead by creating SEO Article.
So you just need to publish your SEO Article once your site is up.

Technically you can create backlinks and point them towards a non existing website. I'm not sure what kind of effect it will have though.
Does any know if it will have a negative effect once he does launch his site? That is if the search engine crawlers found the backlinks before then.

You can create first, second, third, etc... tiers of links. Tier 1 point to nothing yet.
Then you create your website. And then you add article on tier 1 website (assuming they are web 2.0 property) with a link to your website. In my opinion this is a good idea, because a lot of web 2.0 property created by BHW users are always created AFTER the website is live. So you will be under the radar :)

Not a bad idea really.

I would make sure the domain is registered first, and at least have a coming soon page.

However, I don't see any good reason to do so. Maybe you don't want the SEO to go to waste or something? Proper SEO can take years. Don't put the cart before the horse. Content is king!

I would't do it. Not to my money site at least.

There is no problem doing pre-launch SEO. However, I agree with Furious George that you may want to put a coming soon page. Just make a short html, 2 images and a 300 word article how this site will change the world.
Maybe you can also create social accounts already linked from the site. In this way you may acquire a decent crawl-rate and pr2+ before the site is finally up.

My concern would be just that you give away the idea if it is somehow unique.

I wouldn't do anymore than article writing for tier 1's as Emp suggested, and as Stufferizer stated, link to social accounts with a basic page if you are going to backlink to your money site. If you are going to write more articles, do so for the directories, but don't post them otherwise.

There is ZERO value in backlinking to a site that isn't indexable. Crawler's will simply 404, visitors will be inconvenienced and that would be counter-productive for anyone to link to.

You can do some press releases as a pre-launch hype when you have the domain and a "Coming soon" page - any other type of content wouldn't make sense and can easily be picked up as artificial.

Ok i am writing articles for 1 and 2 tiers, can somebody Please link me to a list of web 2.0 sites.

Thank you very much everyone :) loved this community and everyone :)

Write high quality articles for your money site and tier 1's that have desired keywords and relevant informative content. Not tier 2's.

Look at this for a decent list of web 2.0 sites

There's nothing stopping you from prepping in advance, I just wouldn't begin backlinking to your money site if it wasn't already up and running.
