Yeh, it's a game of nerves and when you don't know who is the other party, you can really be in a tight spot. This is why I said and mean that if you DON'T have a long-term strategy and really don't completely understand the niche's width & depth, you cannot get the best out of it... and hence it's your decision that matters.
I, for one, always wanted to get into this particular niche and had some plans, but it will need a real team of SEO/SEM experts to achieve real success. SEM cannot be handled by one lone person, however good he is. So, go along your instincts and think hard about what will be your next steps after you get the domain. If you back out, I will not blame you because having the domain is not sufficient (considering the very high price, even at this stage)... you need a complete strategy and time.
I also strongly believe that your competition there isn't a novice. So do what you need to. Again, that domain name is good but only if you work on it extensively. If you just want to have it now to sell it later for a possible high-profit, then too you must think about every aspect because it is not cheap anymore. and possibly, the other party can play cat-and-mouse for a much longer time which will kill or impact all your future profits. Unless you have an air-tight strategy, you may not break even in a long time too.
So Good Luck with it! As I said, you need to consider everything...
