Ultimately, there is no way to protect your ebook. Once it gets in the hands of one person, they can distribute it. There are ways to deter people from sharing it, like custom watermarking each copy as a way of backtracking to the individual who initially distributed it, but once it is distributed, that's pretty much it.

The best you can do is to hope that enough people buy it in the beginning. After that, if it's a good product, it will eventually be distributed without your permission.

That's the way it goes . . .

I caught a Guy reselling my Product on DP with just the Cover Page changed without my Permission. Leave alone the sharing thing!
It really hurts when out Products are shared but think of those Gurus selling $2k Products. It would hurt then a lot more on seeing their content being shared for free. LOL.

NO. You can protect ebooks through HWID protection for avoiding It's distribution. I'm personally using It. It can at-least reduce the 80% chances of being leaked.

It's pretty easy to get any pirated copies taken down actually. Unless it ends up on The Pirate Bay that is. Just said a DMCA, all file hosters like Mediafire, RapidShare etc. will take it down fairly quickly.

Another simple fix to cut down on pirating is to only offer watermarked sample pages from the e-book. Or, you could go farther and see if you can find encryption programs that can only temporarily and one-time unencrypt the e-book or sample (or find a coder who can create one). This way any secure info you gave out that gets shared "will self-destruct in X hours" or some such time frame.

If thieves even shared the samples, the watermark or temporary unencrypted files will give away who did it. One other way to do things is to issue the sample info in text form, but the final product is in an audio or video format. Throw a swerve at the guys by not telling them what the final format of the thing will be, which will undercut their premature claims that they are sharing your actual product.

this might help http://myfreecopyright.com/ & if you make your ebook with adobe rather than open office you have to send them the file ,they then encrypt it and send it you back as a pdf,with some built security .not great but most people will only try to copy & paste your work,anything more time consuming they will probably move on to the next ebook

I know this is old, but I just can't let this slide.

When that person wrote their ebook, they were granted immediate copyright. He doesn't have to tell you not to resell his works. It's illegal for you to do so, period. UNLESS the copyright owner grants you a written license to do so. If there isn't one, then you need to assume that you don't have any kind of resell rights.
