BHW members,

I'd like your advice and experience on making money with the following types of sites:

1.) Scuttle, Scuttle Plus
2.) phpDug
3.) Article Directory

I'd like something I can setup and forget and have users add content to. My thought is to make adsense or affiliate income from it (unless you have a better way).

What's been your experience with these? It seems like there are quite a lot of automatic scuttle submitters, so you could probably get content from those pretty easily. I know there are tons of article submission programs, so either way you should be able to get lots of free content without doing anything. Then I can just focus on promoting the site.

How can I make money with this?
Is there something I can do better?

Thanks,
~The Internet Viking~

user submitted content + automated submitters = crap content
Think who is mainly using these sites and tools. You either invest time in keeping it clean or end up with a site full of sh**t that is hard to promote.

phpDug sites are good if you are looking to create a site with a ton of indexed pages that can be used to link to other sites - that is what I use it for, but truth be told, I don't monetize those types of sites.

But, you could probably monetize them easily with TNX or something like that, though you wouldn't make a lot of money, once they had some PR, they would certainly pay for themselves.

Article directories can be a bit of a headache, though if you want to try something automated that you can make a bit of money with Adsense, I have been using WP with the WP Article Directory plugin combined with UAW, and that has made a little bit of automatic income for me.
