I saw a thread about text message advertising.

It reminded me about bluetooth proximity ads.

Live in a populated area?

Wow, that is interesting! I work in DT Denver...I could do A LOT with that. It is an interesting concept for sure. It says that it works within 300 feet. But I am in a high rise...I wonder if it will still get people on the ground. I'd like to think so anyway.

Get a small laptop, one of those, go to the mall, coffee shop, or book store. Just sit, relax and spam the crap out of everyone.

If the download is pretty much instant, you could just use an AC converter and take this mobile. Think of all the red lights, makin' cash by just driving around. Park in front of major stores and hit everyone going in and out. Maybe pay a taxi, delivery, pizza, long haul truck driver you know a few bucks to keep it going full-time.

Oh yeah, charge local biz to get in on the ad action too. Shit I might get serious about this.

On both of those sites there is a product that allows you to carry it around with you. Think about just walking around a sport event. It's great because no one would ever know you're the one sending the messages.
Maybe park your car at a main entrance and hit up every car that drives by or right by the main gate and get people as they are walking in.
I live close to Los Angeles.. the Lakers have an average attendance of about 20k people per game.
Let's say you are able to get your message though to 20% of attendees - That would be 4,000 messages sent. I'm not sure if that's high or low.. I would think just about everyone has a BlueTooth enabled phone these days.
Thanks to the new law in California that you can't drive while on your cell phone MANY people have converted to BlueTooth headsets which mean they have BlueTooth enabled.

If you where to market something like Bodog Sport Betting site .. they pay you $100 per sign up (that deposits $20.00). If 2% joined that would be 80 converts @ 100.00= $8,000.

Southern California also has a lot of Indian Casinos. I couldn't even imagine the number of people coming in and out of them on the weekend.
Just about all of them have valet. Rent a sick as car for the day and tell the valet to leave it in the front (which they do because it add to the image of the casino).
Think about promting people to download a file called (casinoname)100FreePlay.jpg.

edit: OOPS! The page is gone but, it's all about installing a better antenna. A stop at the local Radio Shack ought to get you all you need, as well as the technical advice from one of the geeks there.

The proxiblaster system allows you to capture the mobile numbers of people who opted in to receive your BlueTooth advertisement and re-market to them later via SMS. I know you can get into a lot of heat with SMS marketing but I wonder if since they "opted-in" it would be legal to remarket to these people.

Thinking, what if you setup a system out-side a sports/concert stadium (like Staples Center in So Cal.).. Gather 4k opt-in users an event (weekly) with something like "Get Special Discounts on Staples Center Events" and then re-marketed them to buy tickets to events though an affiliate link via SMS messages.

Is that blackhat or illegal? LOL

So far it seems to be legal, according to these sites it is because it is "permission based" meaning that if people don't want bluetooth correspondence they do have the choice to disable it? That's my best guess.
