Screw Text Spam, Use Bluetooth Proximity Ads...

A couple years ago I went to a SEO conference and one of the affiliate companies had one of these devices at their booth. They sent msgs out just as one of the sessions were getting out saying that we had better get to booth xyz if we wanted this or that. It was a pretty cool idea but as mentioned above, your phone had to be set up to accept these types of messages. Some people got the msg twice and immediately saw how this could get very annoying if the tool was used as a spam tool. Like anything, if you use it right it could pay off but as mentioned in other posts, there are lots of challenges also.

It would be interesting to see if you could run this as a negative campaign - advertise your competitors company and have people complain like crazy
They will catch you and you will only end up giving them more exposure/PR.

Take a venue with 35,000 people.. 80% have Blue Tooth compatible Phones (28,000), 25% of that can accept file transfers (.vcards, .gifs, ect) (7,000), 15% of those will accept incoming file transfer (if you have a good target market)(1,050), 2% of those will visitor your website later (21), 5% of those will convert to your offer (1).
Let's say you are promoting a $100 product (like Bodog affiliate program).. You would make $100 for every 35,000 people that come within range of your system.
Remember, person has to stay within range to accept incoming file and during file transfer.
Of course, these are rough number and I'm really trying to think of a concept this would work on but for BlackHat Offline marketing this might be a hard business venture.

You will get a chance to win the discount ONLY if you turn it on bring your phone to the bartender if you receive our SUPER SECRET UNIQUE code so he can see you received it and he'll fix you up with one drink of your choice.
Not everyone wins a drink but, everone will at least get one discount each visit here."
Do a variation for Uncle Bucks Bowling Alley, Hardware Hanks lumber yard,Elviras Massages,Salons, I was going to say gas stations but phones are known to make things go BOOM!! when they ring around gas fumes

Why? I have a windows mobile.. I'm sure that I can find or make a software myself that scans for active bluetooth and sends the files.
Your windows mobile has range approx 10meters.

you should try fax broadcasting your competitors ad. works with any business that has a physical location and business number!!

I inquired about buying a business regarding this niche, basically the guy would ship these units in for $800 from china then sell them to local places like stadiums and event centers for twice that. If I recall I think they where capable of sending out messages to any phone in a 25-100 mile radius depending on the features you bought with your box. It's definitely cool stuff.
I will definately buy such a tool and will try it at a local football game with some online bet place affiliate... but i don't know which one to buy..
is this one good? its just so small and i think it hasen't got enough power to spam out some hundred ads in short time...
