Scammed for $5,000 - Help me Track Down the Scammer

If it was sent by wire, you must have his name.

if no do some OSINT and get his name and address. Then hire a PI and chase him down, if your friend is willing to go that far and get a portion of his funds back or show this guy a freakin' lesson.

And if your friend is buying watches it should be a face-to-face transaction. And preferably at a jeweler where you can pay to have the watch opened and checked for authenticity. Even if the transaction went through he could of gotten a fake watch. I used to buy/sell and broker watch deals. Always done in person.

I can setup a subpage on my watch company website - which you then use to lure him into visiting.
With hard-proof (bank records) + an IP address, the police can easily get ISP info.

These $5000 could feed a good number of people who lost their jobs and income. I just don't get it, guys help me please, what would the $5000 watch will do when you can simply see the time on your cell phone LOL. I hope they get this scammer and give the money to people who don't have dinner on table tonight.
 
I wish I had that kind of money to just throw away ....that would be a sweet problem to have! Sounds like 5Gs is more like 50 cents to him. Lucky guy!

Welcome to the world. There is enough information out there to make your stomach turn. Many people every year die of starvation, while many people throw away food. The world is not a fair place and we are not a fair species

Very true. This is most definitely first world problems. Oh what a privilege it must be to get scammed $5000 on a watch, I totally get that perspective.

Sorry about that. However, you can get help from the police if you live in 1st tier country
 
Did you even inform the police about this? Coz telling a police first can be a better option
 
The guy's a fool, would rather make memes of how stupid he is rather than spend my valuable time trying to help him.

If payment was done via CC, there could've been a choice to chargeback. This seems helpless.

You're right, which is why I want to track this scammer down so I can take what measures are pursuable.
