It has come to the attention of the staff that @WORK@HOME has been compromised and that it seems that he was not the one involved in this scam.

More info may come up in the near future but that is apparently the situation.
 
How he has been compromised and isn't it his responsibility to protect his logins safe if that is the case?

Someone hacked his account and, sure it is his responsibility to keep it safe but crimes happen all the time and you cannot always stop them.
