Scammed by TheKillingJoke

    I got contacted via PM by @TheKillingJoke saying he can provide the service I was looking for.
    I needed (and still need by the way) to analyze 2 of my Instagram accounts and sort all the followers and also get a list of all verified accounts following me. That was on 26.12.19. I paid the next day. The estimate was 3-5 days before the job is finished. I still haven’t got neither the job done nor the refund.
    I already opened a dispute on PayPal and the guy is not responding to them even though they’ve tried to contact him.

    PS: yet another pseudo-freelancer who never delivers LMAO I got fooled again.

    I had a post requesting the scraping of emails and sending to those scraped emails. TheKillingJoke offered his services, quoting $30 per 1000 scraped and sent emails. I said I want 2000 for a test ($60)

    He gave me a turnaround time of 3-7 (already very long for that kind of stuff). Since I paid him, he replied very very slowly, would answer once per day or two days. It's been some days past his 7 day TAT and he was just wasting time, not replying.

    After his last message, he had nothing to stall with anymore. He just outright stopped responding even though I saw him look at my messages multiple times. The last 4 messages in the convo are all mine and he saw them all.

    I would be happy to share the PMs with mods. Also, doing paypal chargeback.

    Here is his first message to me in response to my HAF thread:

    Then, he started replying very slowly even though he was online the whole time and browsing other threads. Example:

    The rest of the conversation is not noteworthy, right up until the end. Always the same pattern, replying very slowly but seems to be getting there one step at a time. I had to constantly remind him to reply and I noted to him politely when his 7 day TAT was over, hoping he would take it a bit more seriously:

    As you can see, I was civil throughout the whole ordeal.

    Fast forward a bit and this was the last message from him to me before I shitlisted him:

    I then needed to send multiple messages in a row, ALL of which he has read at least once. Meanwhile, he had been browsing HAF, possibly looking for victims. Messages he read and ignored:

    I then proceeded to shitlist him, raise a PP dispute and tell him all this. Then he got all pissy and did the classic ''well I was gonna complete the job but now I won't because you're the asshole here'' that scammers like to do.

    NOTE TO THE MODS: I did raise a dispute but before you told me not to. I wasn't aware of your stance on the issue. However, I won't raise it to a claim yet out of respect to you.

    In our last PM message, he made it clear that he doesn't intend to deliver the product or refund me:

    So, to reiterate. I paid for a service. He was already late with the service then he made it abundantly clear to me that he doesn't ever intend to complete the service or refund me. He is breaking communication (ghosting) me and is hoping to win the paypal dispute. High hopes this guy has.

    Yes, I agree that I could have waited longer till I opened the shitlist. Yes, I agree that I could have waited more after giving him the notice, HOWEVER, the fact still stands that he read ALL of the messages at least once and deliberately and consciously ignored them. He had all the time in the world to reply, since he had been browsing this forum, yet he didn't and he knew that he had already overstepped his TAT. MOREOVER:

    OP (whose shitlist got merged with mine) clearly says that he paid TheKillingJoke for a service and he ghosted him for like 20 days. He even admits it and says ''this one is on me'' lol. He's saying it like one could accidentally forget to deliver their service for many days all the while reading through the forum and getting messages by another guy who was awaiting for their service to be delivered.

    Clearly, there is nothing accidental in his avoidance to deliver his services and reply to PMs; that was done elaborately and consciously.

    Thank you for understanding. I have made my case as clear as possible. I paid money and got nothing in return for it.

    I got full refund.
    The guy didn’t even care to reply the PayPal team that tried to contact him.
    Hopefully these are all the proofs you need to block his ass.

    We'd only ban members if refunds were not issued, if staff had decided that a refund was in order.

    bagrov is saying that TheKillingJoke didn't refund him willingly. Can you really consider that a true refund? He just won the paypal claim.

    Moreover, he didn't refund me shit and he is now dodging the forum (he had been on the forum every day before the shitlist). He owes me money and he scammed me willingly.

    Thank you for understanding. Just to be clear, hypothetically, if I were to get a refund from paypal too, would he still be banned? I'm talking about the kind of refund where he played no part in getting it and ignored the paypal ticket.

    Provided you got your money back, he'd be allowed to remain.

    What I would say though, if they went down the avenue of ignoring thee SL and the PP dispute, it would reflect badly on them and how they conduct business.

    We had a SL last year with a content provider who did just that, made the buyers dispute through PP instead of doing the right thing.

    I just don’t understand how that makes any difference. I mean the guy totally avoid his clients, I bet it there wasn’t any paypal dispute i would still be writing him to get my money back. This whole situation just shows how big of an a-hole the guy is really but who am i to judge right

    Let me just bring up a point there.

    So this scammer makes two trades with members here (at least two, who knows how many in reality). He just ghosts us after receiving the money, never intending to deliver the product. We open the shitlist and a paypal dispute. No matter what happens, he comes out with a 50% win. If he loses PP, he gets to stay on here. If he wins PP, he is banned from here. In either case, he comes out with some sort of win.

    This sort of policy incentivizes scammers NOT to refund anyone. If the rules were different, I am betting he would refund us ASAP to save his forum account as otherwise he would come out with the short end of the stick. In fact, he told me via pm ''if I don't win pp I will win here''. I didn't understand what he meant, but now I do.

    And after all that, he will just go back to scamming someone else. Can bagrov and I at least leave negative reviews on his profile warning others to stay away?

    Also, do I have your claim to escalate PP as he clearly intends not to respond?

    Guys

    It works like this;

    1)You are unhappy with a seller; Try resolve it with them directly.
    2)That doesn't work then you open a SL.
    3)Staff will decide on the outcome of the SL.
    4)If they say you should be refunded, then the seller must refund you.
    5)If they fail to refund, they will be banned and then we encourage you to open the dispute with PP.


    By opening a PP dispute first, you tie our hands until that is resolved. Keep in mind by doing that too, you run the risk of locking the persons PP account, making a refund harder to process.

    OK I understand your thought process. However, since I already raised a ticket with PP, I need to escalate it before February 8 or I'll never get my money back. So I guess I'll settle with a negative review then.

    I've temp banned him until 30th Jan.

    If he's not resolved it by then, escalate it and I'll see about removing him from here permanently.

    OK so he has escalated the paypal claim himself so that I could get a refund before his temp ban is lifted so that he can continue using the forum

    Pretty neat way to bypass the forum's ban policy, huh? All that trouble but he could have just clicked on the ''refund buyer'' button and dealt with the whole issue.
