Scammed by Debian

Quite frankly, this guy should have been banned for scamming. NOT for insulting a Mod and NOT for insulting this community who does lack ethics at the end of the day. The fact he was banned for that reason and not for scamming his clients is a prime example of the power trips the mods on this forum continue to display.

I'm all for order, structure, and keeping people safe. But the fact that he was banned because of his big mouth and not because of his scamming ways is ridiculous. Quit flexing your power to impress others. Be fair and impartial based on his actions. Not his big, insulting mouth.

I think I made it pretty damn crystal clear that I'm upset that he was banned for his words instead of his scamming actions. What part didn't you pick up from that? And throwing a tantrum? So every time someone voices their opinion that doesn't fall in line with yours you label it as a tantrum? Yeah, that real logical.

I think the issues here does not concern the mod. It is up to mod approval for BST, yes that is true. But what if I submit a couple of real residential IPs for review? Mod will not be able to find out the quality later on except for the fact when shitlist are opened. Mod are humans as well, you cannot be expecting them to constantly review an ongoing sales thread. The responsibility lies with the buyer. A case of ready seller and willing buyer.

All due diligence has to be conducted before one purchases.I think this is common sense.

It work both way when it comes to banning scammers, and legally in Debian case, he has not scam in the eyes of law. Because in his terms of service, he did not mentioned about physical location of his server. He is playing the contract loophole here. In the eyes of the law, unless proven the accused is always innocent. Based upon common law, mod is doing the correct thing by not assuming the accused is scamming. Mod can lay down the processes in place (aka evidence/fact) that lead to PERCEPTION of scamming, mod is in no position to decide the seller is scamming up to the point when refund is refused and seller refuses to communicate.

In this case, if you google, you can see that seller has a poor reputation for his service therefore it is an early warning sign to potential buyer.

I am taken aback when I saw seller responding like a kid who just lost his candy. As a service seller (which I did mentioned in my reply previously to him) the refund can be settled easily without doing much damage to his forum reputation. Unfortunately seller seems to think otherwise.

Sounds familiar? :P

I feel like I need to clear up a few misconceptions.

He was ONLY temp banned after his mouth and insults got too big and @jazzc felt insulted. He even stated he gave him a chance and then he pushed it too far. He was found guilty of scamming. His entire scam was even laid out by the mod! Was he banned for that? NO! Look what he stated before he banned him! You just proved my case!

"I gave you a chance to make amends and keep your account and you took it. Now you insult the forum members because you've been blown off. Not acceptable. 1 month vacation to chill and reflect."

He only got banned once the insults started. He was NOT banned for his scamming ways that were exposed by this mod @jazzc. What in the FUCK are you talking about????

First and foremost, our priority is to make sure any buyers who didn't receive what they paid for, get their money back. The user was refunded which is why the seller wasn't banned outright. The seller was told that what he did was not acceptable in future and would result in a future ban. If he's refunding someone it's not exactly the same thing as a scam. If he's paying someone back, he's showing he's invested in keeping his account here and he'll go along with the mod's decision, however reluctantly. He also got raked over the coals so he's now fully aware that what took place wasn't acceptable. If someone's showing signs of redemption, cutting them off at the knees isn't appropriate.

The reason Mods don't always ban immediately is that they try to resolve the situation by engaging the member and try to get them to settle any refunds.
@jazzc did a fantastic job in the thread and gave @Debian every opportunity but unfortunately @Debian decided to insult people, that was the reason for the ban I believe, and afaik it is only for a month.

Exactly this. @jazzc showed a tremendous amount of self-restraint.

And again, insulting or offending a Mod is NOT grounds for a ban anyways. He has every right to defend himself and point out any flaws that he feels about the way the process was handled whether he is right or wrong.

Nope, sorry - that's not correct. There's a vast amount of people using the forum every day and we have to manage this. You'll find that politely querying something or defending yourself isn't something you'll get banned for.

Like you said, he's not even really banned! He can come right back here in 30 days and run another scam!!! The hypocrisy and walking contradictions with these power tripping Mods is un-fucking-believable. I can't even begin to imagine being scammed by this guy and knowing that he will be allowed to stay here and will be back in a month. WOW. Just....WOW. Very revealing about the culture and attitude within the Mods.

You'll notice that you've been personally insulting to the mods involved - yet you're still here. The "power trips" you're raging about can't be that bad because you've been treated with far more respect and courtesy than you've shown to others.

Having said that, I see the vast amount of abuse our mods get and I'm not going to tolerate you sneering at their patience, hard work and carefully-considered decisions. You can have a week away from the forum for a short attitude adjustment. Please believe me when I say that this power-trip was mine alone and nothing to do with the mods who've been incredibly polite to you.

Lastly - this thread has gone badly off the rails. Insulting other members is against the rules - even though @Debian has had a temp ban, he's still a member here and the money's been refunded. If there's something factual someone wants to add, that's great. Otherwise, all your opinions and subjective character assassinations have no place here and any future replies along these lines will be dealt with appropriately.

2 people trying to resolve a business issue should not be a spectator sport. Let's hope everyone enjoys these impromptu little kangaroo courts as much when they're personally involved.

Exactly. Despite his name-calling, I never returned the favor. I was a dissatisfied customer but apparently that made me "most annoying", a "troll", and that I needed to "get a life".

My dissatisfaction wasn't from the IP assigned to me, it was from the fact that the VPN connection was so slow/laggy/buggy that I couldn't even load the most basic of websites. I followed his (brief) setup guide perfectly.

I opened a ticket and got a blunt "check your settings" response.

So I replied with all the steps I took to troubleshoot the connection, the nature of the connection issues, etc. Basically an essay to help him troubleshoot the issue (which I realize is way better than a useless ticket that says "help, it's not working!") Also, all my other VPN services were working flawlessly. Part of my troubleshooting with Debian's service was to even try his VPN on other computers/networks/ISPs just to make sure it wasn't my home connection.

The reply to my ticket was again... "check your settings"

So.. that's when I realized it was a useless service with 0 support. I didn't renew it an only lost $50. (If I paid by PP instead of BTC then I probably would of disputed the charge.)

But thanks to this thread, I understand his support responses much better. He claims to be a highly educated networking wizard, so of COURSE the problem had to be on my end and not his. So it explains why he made no effort to help me.

So... as I said.. no name-calling, just warning others that this wasn't a great service.

If he still owes you money, provide the details according to the rules, then we'll pick it back up with @Debian once his ban's lifted. Or before, even.

For this forum to function, it's vital that everyone has the right to reply and present their side of the story. It's also vital that people receive the service they pay for and the seller is accountable for doing this.

These two concepts are not mutually exclusive.

I fully agree. But it was a while ago and I don't have screenshots or remember my login to his system. So I didn't think it would be legit to claim a refund. I wrote it off a service that performed... but very very poorly.

you shouldnt have to settle for poor service - and never ever let it go, people do need to say hay
this isnt working right or hes gettin money for poor service out, never settle on 2nd best
people need pull services up when they under deliver or things never change.

Yeah you are right, I should of done something. At the time I didn't think there was any way to prove it. But now I realize, I could of given a Mod access to the VPN so he could of tried it himself and experienced the poor performance.

Hindsight is 20/20!!

well its out now , so got there in the end.
