Yes there are some on here who scam, but they are normally felt with by mods and members. Due diligence and common sense is what's needed with any transaction. Lots of sellers who abide by the rules work hard to build reputations

Doing private deals through PM's with some random stranger on the internet is not very smart, how much due diligence did you do before sending him your money?

Actually there is a huge difference.
Those that sell in the marketplace have been vetted by a Marketplace Moderator.
Those that randomly sell via PM have not and are not managed.
If it is for sale in the marketplace and you choose to buy outside the marketplace, you are putting yourself at a certain level of risk.

The sellers have to give the Marketplace Mod the highest level of product they offer... that could be thousands of dollars to get an approved thread here.
Go and look at the second post in every Marketplace thread and you'll see that the Mod received and examined the product or service offered.
