Unfortunately, people fall for these kinds of scams every day.

A former coworker of mine got something like this, and totally fell for it. Supposedly a relative of her's (who she had never met) died and willed her the equivalent of 10 mill USD if British Pounds. The catch was, she had to open a "bank account" in the UK, with a $2000 deposit, so they could deposit the 10 mill into the account.

Well, she fell for it and lost 2 grand. Goes to show how gullible people can be.

We all know these scams are well organized.
Every new angle is tested before it leaves the drawing board.

Only problem is that their CEO (who is also the owner) writes their copy...and he insists on it.

I found a picture of their HQ.
Behind the desk you see him.....Mr. Copywriter himself.
(rumor goes he also wrote the script for 23 Nigerian sci-fi movies)

    XD XD LOL!!!!
on a more serious note..comparing the intellectual capacity of the people residing in various corners of the earth who have access to the internet atleast 30% of them fall for it due to them being absolutely ignorant.
probability wise the scammers success ratio is atleast 2:100-150(minimum possible mathematically)
in other words $$$$$$ if they have good inboxing rate.
still is sad that some people fall for it

You should take a look at 419eater.c0m for a laugh.
These guys are professionals at playing the scammers at their own game & sending them on 'safaris' hundreds or sometimes thousands of miles from home in the hope of collecting a huge payout from some unsuspecting victim.
The only problem is reading their threads is addictive - you can easily lose a whole day of work once you start :)

Interview with one of these scammers :)

Scam-Detective: What percentage of emails would get a response?

John(scammer): Maybe 9 or 10 out of every thousand emails. Then maybe 1 out of every 20 replies would lead to us getting money out of the victim in the end.

so conversions are better then we think..
