We're seeing history repeating. This was an enormous success in the late 90's and early 2000. Some guy from Europe was going to cook his rabbit unless he got donations. He raised a fair bit of money IIRC.
I remember that... but that was the days when the web was wild west. Especially on IRC. Technically, cooking a rabbit is a delicacy and even in the local European meat shop, they sell rabbits ready to cook.
But making money off of this is just disgusting! It preys on the weakness of people and might as well be crack dealer.
Back in the 90s early 2000s there was even a person who wanted to chop his own legs live on the web for donations.

Maybe we are back in the days of the wild west.... Nothing makes sense anymore. White hat does not work, every link is evil, adwords is the only kind of link you can buy, we're all sinners and Matt Cutts is our pastor....
Plus, the rabbit eater guy is probably getting tons of "editorial" links to his page.
(Agree with this being despicable though, but I am 90% sure that rabbit doesn't even exist.....and if it does, this guy won't eat it even if the deadline passes.)
