Running a facebook fanpage using proxy

Hello. I'm going to create and build a fan page on Facebook to gain targeted traffic for my affiliate site but the thing is I'm not in the country that I'm targeting so it would be hard to get followers from that country cause Facebook geos algorithm. I want to ask if it's safe to run an account on a private proxy ? Will facebook detect my real ip and ban for faking my real location ? Please give me some advice
