We Import and Export a lot to the EU, they don't want to lose this trade and neither do we so there will be agreements. A lot of the negative forecasts came from traders and bankers and funnily enough they are the ones that seem to have lost out here but realistically why the fuck should we care whether they win or lose?
I found out yesterday that because the pound had dropped I gained a few hundred quid in my back pocket for nothing other than a change in currency, I don't do forex just that the dollars I have on hand are suddenly worth more, and that my mortgage rate is going to drop by around 1/3 to 1/4 by the end of the year. I call that a double brucey bonus for lil Jimmy right here.
If you look at what areas voted to leave and ignore Scotland and N.I the only place in England that wanted to stay was London because of the bankers and there dependence on the financial system. Well guess what, if they want to remain a competitive financial hub they will just have to have deals in place that maintains their position in the World's markets and you can bet your left nut they will do just that.
As I have said before this is a complicated matter and one that nobody really knows how it will pan out in the short term or long term, hell nobody even knows where everyone will stand by the end of next week, but people are resilient and businesses will not want to lose trade on either side of the channel so deals will get made and life will go on. Where one industry falls another will rise, that is how economies work.
If the pound tanks our exports will be stronger, if import tax has to increase because of poor trade deals then we will deal with the US, Japan, China etc a lot more and also local businesses may be able to compete better.
If the EU try to snub us and put some form of sanctions or oppressive deals our way it will limit member states from dealing with us which will affect their industries which could cause them to leave the EU and if a few more do it in the next few years it will crumble. Realistically I do not see this happening as despite what some politicians and EU acolytes are claiming is going to happen they will not force us out on our own.
Britain has the 5th largest economy in the World and second biggest in the EU after Germany, you think the EU is going to snub a country with an economy bigger than all but 1 of their member states out of spite? Just mull that over.
