RSS Submit is Worthless & a Warning

You couldnt possibly be more wrong!! I bought the software and it is updated and it does work if you have A legit version 3.14. It was updated again very recently and new aggregators were added. They havent removed the dead sites from the interface or the website but they add new ones in and it supports A ton of other semi automatic aggregators that you can submit to. There isnt an RSS tool on the market that can submit to more sites successfully through automated submission and semiautomated submission then An UPDATED LEGIT copy of rss submit. If you are using some old cracked copy and are unhappy with the results then you really don't have A right to complain. Its not the software thats worthless its your thread. What A load of crap!!

"Out of the 98 aggregators on the list, 68 appeared successful, 13 failed, 11 there is no way to verify so they
could be either, 2 required manual submission because of extra fields and 4 the software just skipped altogether.

But the actual results were much worse."<------------- Your results and your successful submission numbers mean nothing!! You are using A cracked copy that is over 1 year old that you didnt pay A dime for!!

Dummysoftware/ksoft looks like it hasn't updated its site (and its software) since 2009. <-----------Once again A Complete load of Crap as the software was just updated to 3.14 and new aggregators were added!

You are just A guy with A 1 year old cracked version of A software complaining about the success rate!! You are calling KSOFT A scam because you arent getting results from your outdated 1 year old cracked software that you didnt buy? Seriously? You dont have any facts because the only people that have facts and the right to complain are the people using updated legit versions!!

Fact 1: I downloaded v3.14 directly from their site and decompiled it. That enabled me to see the exact URL strings
they use to submit to the aggregator sites. There is no more complete method of evaluation than that.

Fact 2: I visited all of them... manually. I also populated each URL string with the necessary data and tried the
submission that way. There is no more thorough method of verification than that.

Fact 3: The only reason to update the software and leave in all of the dead aggregators is to inflate the total
number of aggregators as a shady sales tactic. Also, the generated report still shows that submission was
successful to multiple sites that no longer exist.

It's interesting that you go on about having all the facts, yet you didn't bother to read the whole thread
(or if you did, you weren't paying attention). If you had, you would know the above already. Whether or not it
was purchased has no bearing on the results. The whole point of the evaluation was to determine if this
software is worth $124.95. I would rather analyze before I burn a c-note instead of complaining about it afterward.
Spending the money is not the issue; the issue is value - will spending that money provide the advertised results?

If you think this is simply idle complaining, you obviously missed the point here. So, if you still don't get it, I invite
you to repeat my exact experiment and let me know if you achieve different results. However, if you
still think the program output is more "factual" than the code used to produce that output, I think there's
a Nigerian prince that wants to wire you some money... he just needs your bank account number.

I haven't used it but incansoft just updated RSSBOT and its on sale for 7$ right now -
http://www.incansoft.com/IS0012.php
Coupon - FEEDS

The email just said the coupon wont last long but it didnt give an exact date, typically there coupons last a month though.

Thanks but this software is basically worthless. It doesn't allow mass import of RSS feeds lol. :D

Thanks for the research OP, I actually used RSS Submit a while ago as part of a service I offer to help index links - like you I found it did very little, and you found out why.

You mention Sick Submitter, whilst a pretty good tool if you don't mind it being slow in comparison to others..... you can only RSS 1 feed at a time, which is annoying!! Unless they have updated it in the last 2 months.

With the other modules on it, you can submit multiple URL's, the RSS doesn't work like that.

Finally, which RSS Submit do you recomment me?

A few months ago, I downloaded RSS Submit 3.0 from BHW. Everything worked (or so I thought) and I was using
it to submit my feeds to RSS aggregators/directories. It wasn't until I decided to offer a service around this
software that I became suspicious of its effectiveness. I know it's an older program, but I have read many posts
here and elsewhere that still recommend it.

For any service I offer, I want to make sure I'm actually delivering something valuable to my customers.
So, I did a test submission using RSS Submit 3.0 and tried to verify it. Basically, to use the program, you enter
a valid RSS feed URL and an email address. Then select all of the feed aggregators to which you want to submit
your feed (I selected all 98 of them) and go.

Upon completion, the software opens a window showing a list of each feed submit site?s return page, which
the software captured. I looked at each one and put the results in excel. Once you close that popup, you can
have the software generate an html report. I did that and pasted the results in the same excel file.
What I found was a ton of discrepancies.

At first glance, the results of the manual verification and the report were not that great (69% success rate),
but still acceptable for a program this old.

False Positives (indicates success when actually failure): 14
False Negatives (indicates failed submit when actually success): 12
False Known (indicates success or failure but no way to verify result): 14

Out of the 98 aggregators on the list, 68 appeared successful, 13 failed, 11 there is no way to verify so they
could be either, 2 required manual submission because of extra fields and 4 the software just skipped altogether.

But the actual results were much worse...

Looking at the error logs, I discovered many of the sites that were ?verified? as successful in my initial
comparison had actually failed. The domains showed ?server not found? and ?operation timed out? errors.

Instead of trying to guess why, I decided to decompile the software and see exactly what URLs were being used
for submission and how the software was carrying out the submission process. I?m no programming guru,
but the decompiler I used extracted text strings and functions well enough to allow me get the answers I needed.
What I found was disturbing.

For each site, the software uses a URL text string to submit your RSS feed. Something along the lines of

Code:
hxxp feedsite com/submit.php?url=[your feed url]&email=[your email]&name=[your name]... you get the idea
Since this is hard coded in to the software, if any sites change their submission pages or processes, fields
or categories, the software would need an update to change that code. Dummysoftware/ksoft looks like it hasn't updated its site (and its software) since 2009.

What?s worse, it seems that the program itself was generating some of the return pages from internal templates.
These are the same pages I mentioned above ? the ones I thought I was viewing live (or at least captures of them).

That led me to extract all 98 URL strings and test them individually, as well as manually visit each domain.

It took a lot of time, but at this point I had to know what was going on. The results are as follows:
  • Out of the 98 RSS sites on the list, the RSS Submit software can only successfully automatically submit your feed to 12 of them.
[*]57 of the sites are dead (404, for sale, new site, no longer accepting submissions, one even triggered my NAV with a Trojan.Maljava)
[*]11 still work, but now have CAPTCHA or additional fields that require manual submission
    [*]10 sites require registration (free)
[*]6 sites now require payment for RSS submission
    [*]2 require reciprocal links
These results led to the conclusion reflected in the post title ? this software is now worthless.
It?s just too old - with the developer gone and no updates, that?s it. Further, after examining what I
could make of the source, I doubt the RSS Submit ever really submitted to at least 4 of those sites.

Even though the report indicates successful submission, the software can only submit your RSS feeds to 12 sites.
If you type moderately fast or use roboform, you might as well do it manually.

It?s time to find another solution for mass RSS submissions.
(RSSbot looks OK, but not sure of the update status. Sick submitter also looks powerful, but you need to write your own templates in their markup for each RSS site ? may take some time.)
If anyone else knows of other solutions that work, please let me know.

WARNING: There are numerous Fiverr gigs selling RSS submission (will submit to 70+, 100+, 125+ RSS aggs, etc.)
using RSS Submit 3.0. Don?t buy them!!! You get nothing for your money! (?and the sellers probably don?t even
realize it because they believe the generated report).

I've been using Fast RSS Submitter and it does the job well and it is way cheaper

I've been using Fast RSS Submitter and it does the job well and it is way cheaper

ALways worth seeing when the last update was.

Dummysoft (Ksoft) site shows how many years ago the latest RSS submit was done

It looks like the last update was April 16th 2006 -
Five and half years ago!

There is other software (one also called RSS Submit) one called "RSS Submitter" and several others.

I have threee and switch between the one that is the most recent all the time (the "other" RSS Submit was last updated in June 2011).

RSS is good for getting links indexed and new sites some momentum.
Use it along with directory submission and bookmarking to get a site going.

None of these are really any good as links per se - but they are all excellent if used in massive quantity to get your sites found quickly and/or your good links indexed.

But RSS Submit - crud - and the BacklinkSpeed (another mal-maintained Ksoft/Dummysoft link tool) program will get your site slapped real quick. It posts on some directories that are VERY dodgy indeed.

Scritty

how about actual results for the other RSS feeders?? are they ACTUALLY better?

ass soon as you turn on Rss submit and notice there is no place for captcha, you know its shit right then!

OP you saved my ass and some bucks. Thanks. Looks like there isn't any good software to automate this job unless you do it yourself.

I want to thank the OP for their work and feedback. As to others who want to criticize the OP's efforts at least read the entire #$%@ thread before getting negative. Unless you are the own of RSS Submit I can't really understand your logic. Also, I am tired of investing software that does crap!

Guys I'm looking for some info on how to make rss feeds from many url's and than upload it to RSS websites and can't really find it. I know that this thread is about software not about "how" but could somebody explain it to me how to do it? I have many bookmarks and I know how to make xml out of them using ScrapeBox. But what then? Do I have to host each xml file on my server and from there take url and post it on RSS sites? Or I can take xmls created in ScrapeBox and post it in RSS sites without hosting it on my server? It makes me confused.

Why even bother with RSS submission. It's as effective as "submitting your site to search engines".

It's almost 2012. Hello?

I use this one
Code:
http://www.bulkping.com/free-rss-submit-online/index.php
RSS Submit - have owned this for a long time now and yes it has become pretty well useless.

:)

For the handful of alternative services mentioned in this thread, have any of them been tested as thouroughly as the op did for rss submit?

Outstanding report, Joe! Thanks for putting in the effort and saving us some money on Fiverr gigs. I was just considering such gigs when I saw this post.

JD

of course this falls on deaf ears
but i will never understand why people only read the first post of the thread
react to that, and prove themselves to be unthinking morons
or worse yet, ask questions in the thread that are answered a few posts up, seriously dude, shut your mouth and open your ears, you learn more that way.

Is RSS Submit still worthless?

And is RSS submission worth the effort at all?
