Rip Off Of My Design?

Hey guys I wanted to get your opinions. As some of you may know, I have a design service for landing pages and BSTs. It was brought to my attention that one of my competitors ripped off my BST Design for my design service. I was informed by a mod to get other people's opinions via poll to see if he did in fact rip off my design (which I think he did) or if its a coincidence. So Id like to ask a favor of you guys and see what you think (please note fonts, logo, background, ripped effect, buy buttons, wood panel feature, etc). This poll is only deciding whether or not you think his design is a rip off of mine not quality of service or anything. Thanks mates.

No it is not a rip off. The only thing which matches is the background color and nothing else.
 
They do have some similarities, did you design it from scratch or did you use a template? Perhaps you both used the same template, or images from a stock photo package?
 
The top portion of both graphics is without a doubt similar, but at least you can pride yourself on not choosing a horrendous title for your service: and then misspelling it on top of that.
Graphic angles? I'm assuming this is a misspelling due to the amount of corny "angel" graphics splattered all over the thread. I'd pick your service over his any day, based on this alone.

What does using angels in a sales pitch say about the salesman? Nothing worthwhile, nor intelligent as far as I'm concerned.

They are completely different services, ones for graphic design and one is for SEO.
 
Yeah, he might have copied you a little, but well, its a free market, do you have a patent or a license for that design? There is competition out there, deal with it by providing excellent service and never disappointing one customer, instead of bitching about a guy who copied the same background for your landing page...
 
If you did not use a template like mentioned above then the rip off is very obvious.

Even in the event you were correct (which isn't the case) explain how the type of service is relevant to a plagiarism of any kind.

You have a point there...

My feelings are that it would be a stupid businessman that blatantly copied any design for using on a BST...

Because if he got caught the sh1t would hit the fan...:eek:

I have not voted as I would need more proof to call out the dude....

Its not the point about there being competition. Its obvious the dude copied my design which took time to create and is trying to undercut me. I even tried being polite and message him before I got a moderator involved and I did this poll per instructions of a mod, so I dont know what "bitching" you're referring to. There needs to be a code of ethics and respect amongst service providers. Were a community and I expect better of fellow members. Not trying to screw others over at any cost.
 
I think some of you are getting confused by his "examples" without those theyre exactly the same. Its not a template as I mentioned before. The background is the same, the logo is basically the same, the font is the same, the page rip effects are the same, the buy buttons are the same, the wood paneling part is the exact same and a lot of his examples are copies of ones on my portfolio which I give out on a regular basis.
 
Consider it as a compliment to your designer skills, the guy obviously saw yours and thought he would make a similar one. But you talk about a code of ethics amongst service providers, but you are the first to rat this guy out to a mod so they can close down his service (which is competing with yours).. anyway, not trying to start a argument just giving my opinion, i think it is a rip off, but I don't see the problem, when you make something nice (that can make money), people will obviously jump on the bandwagon and try to copy it/you.

If you're so sure, then why ask us?
Anyway, just gonna give my opinion. There is a slight similarity between the two but nothing of great significance.
I agree both the background and the rust effect are similar. Logos are not so similar. And the cartoons are also different.
Even if it is, he has made some considerable variations. So, it's unlikely that the mods will delete his thread for violation.
