What makes you think that your article is not that good? Are you going only by its rating, or do you honestly not have confidence in its content, length, etc.? Regardless, rewriting is always an option.
If you think that you could have done a better job with the article, revise and republish it. Time will tell if you’ve done a good job the second time over. Don’t expect anything to change sooner than a couple of months in, though. Content ranking is a slow process, but it pays off.
If you’re thinking of adding in some keywords and backlinks, there’s also little reason not to revise, for as long as you don’t make the article worse by the end. Remember to avoid keyword stuffing and poor quality backlinks, because they will always make the situation worse.
And if all else fails, you can always outsource.
