Could we add a reminder to the @iModBot review that begging for review copies when the seller hasn't offered them is against the rules?

I realize it won't completely eradicate the problem, but since it's such a common occurrence (even among Jr. Vips), I'm guessing some people still don't know it's not allowed.

I like that idea. It would be a gentle reminder for someone who is looking at every market place thread launching.

I think that’s a good idea. No excuses then for anyone asking for a review unless or before they’re offered by the seller.

This would make sense.

Also as part of the BST approval, the seller should inform if they are going to offer any review copies / discounted copies once the thread is live.

I've seen many sellers offering review copies even when it's not mentioned in the thread. So, it's better to add "No review copies" or "No review copies unless announced in the thread" comment at the end of the marketplace threads to make it clear. Otherwise informing sellers not to give review copies without mentioning in the thread should be a better option.

I have seen many people asking for review copies even when the seller didn't offer them. Never knew it was not allowed.
So, I did the same once in a BST and @BassTrackerBoats immediately gave me a warning points and deleted my post. I don't why he didn't do the same to those people.
Now, I don't dare to even look at the sales thread :D

An adjustment is a good idea... I'm sure there are 14 ways to make that adjustment and that is not including the 47 other ways I have not considered.

Good point and thanks for bringing it up.

Immediately?

You may want to report those others that did that in that thread as staff is not omniscient.

You could add "Do not ask for review copies unless offered" to the top of the BST in size-fifty font and people would still ask.

Great idea one more suggestion if a seller says review copy there but then doesn’t give and says already given it’s not fair, because all are posting for current review copies and it’s already given. what I’m saying if seller post in his bst then he should pick from his bst who reply, and not prior bst where he has already given

I have seen people asking for review copies on most of the BST even when seller didn't offer them. So, I started to think of asking for review copies when I became registered member :D.

Again no hard feelings for you @BassTrackerBoats. Joining this forum gave me so much knowledge. I'm very much thankful having joined it.
Infact, when I have no work, all I do is browse through this forum. Thanks

Yeah, I thought it would make sense now that you have a standardized review format.

I'd also be curious to hear your guys' thoughts on extending that to asking for discounts as well, as that's also a fairly common occurrence.

nope asking for discount is every buyer right as everyone would like to get it a tad cheaper it’ll be super messy if warnings were issued for asking discount

Easy way to pick yourself 3 points

Don't post if you are not a buyer.
It's simple if you have never used a service you can't comment on how it works / how effective it is. We ask all thread creators to report any unreasonable posts to a mod where they will be reviewed. If you are found to be using this service unreasonably you will be banned.

Don't request trials/review copies.
The op will post the number of review/trial copies they are willing to give away, if any, and will provide the criteria they require to get a review/trial copy (often these are only for Jr. VIP accounts).

Excellent suggestion, @BBulldog. I've added your suggested point into our standard review format to remind buyers that requesting trials and review copies when none are offered are prohibited in the marketplace rules.

I realize it won't completely eradicate the problem, but since it's such a common occurrence (even among Jr. Vips), I'm guessing some people still don't know it's not allowed.
It's always worth trialing to see if it's effective at reducing the number of marketplace violations. At the moment, there are only two points for buyers at the end of the review, so adding a third one in shouldn't cause members to glaze over them (as adding in too much will do that). I've considered creating a standalone "Rules For Buyers" thread in the marketplace for a while now, but I've not had the opportunity to get to that.

Anyway, your suggested point has been added into our standard review format.
Review Copies: Per the marketplace rules, if a seller does not offer trials or review copies, please do not request them in the sales thread, otherwise your post will be removed and further action may be taken.
I'd also be curious to hear your guys' thoughts on extending that to asking for discounts as well, as that's also a fairly common occurrence.
