I would stay well clear of backlink monitor. The support is non-existant, it's seriously slow, I mean overnight stuff and it's very buggy. Pleanty of better software out there that does the job
Hi,
Interesting feed back on the software! I don't normally come across negative comments on the software. The negative comments are usually from people who don't understand how to use it. The support should NOT BE Non Existant. If you are a customer to Inspyder Software and their products then you will be treated as such, as a customer! Ask for support and they will provide you with support!
Slow? Did you try to increase the default thread count from 5 to 25? That will make the link checking process happen a lot quicker!
You say overnight stuff? Did you know that the software has a built in scheduler which allows you to schedule some of these overnight tasks? It can even email you once it has finished the link check with a breakdown of its results! I tend to schedule my link checks as I don't see any benefit in sitting there and watching my links get crawled, checked and organsied by tier. Especially if you have 100,000 links to check, then yes, it will take a long time (hours). These projects need to be scheduled so that you can be more productive with your use of time.
If you have spotted any bugs, then if you report them to support, they will get them fixed. But please try and be as descriptive as possible in terms of what the bug is and how it can be reproduced at their end to be fixed.
There is no other software out there that does the job!! I could name a few alternatives which monitor/check your tier 1 links such as Backlink Inventory and Linkody as well as Scrapebox. Do these tools do what Backlink Monitor does? NO they don't. No other tool currently on the market will organise your links by tier and allow you to analyse the most important metrics such as PR value, obl's, indexed status. The other tools ONLY monitor tier 1 links. That is it! They DO NOT look at links past tier 1.
But I would be interested to hear about any alternatives out there, as I have not come across any worthy ones yet.
