Reputation Points System (+x)

Great find! I looked for this yesterday but I did not find anything. The search is tricky and only had 3 results. haha

Thanks!

Interesting thread.
I thought we shared tips here just for the sake of helping each other out. I am a little skeptical about reputation points and all the rest of it. A thanks is okay for me if I have shared a tip that helped the asker.

Reputation points is a whole other thing. Could make things rather political

Same here. I had no clue. about the rep thing. I was thinking it was tied to post and itrader.

I only have a rep power of 1. i am going to have to go cry now. lol

I only have a rep lower of one and you see my stats.

I like the idea as long as it is not abuse one way or the other. It does not grant special access to anything.

@loamigad - You have a rep power of 3?

How is it that you have been here for almost 3 years and have such low numbers?

Glad your here.

Quite frankly because ill rather make money than hang around here all day.
But its a good resource to brainstorm if you swift through all the shit :)
edit:never been jr vip so that theory is also false.
It seems to go by year only nothing else, am i wrong?

nope, i have rep powa 3+, carson has 4+, i guess you have 5+
it's something to do with our status (regular member or jrvip/donor?/exec vip...) and of course the amount of the rep

I have rep power +3 so it can't be the status. at least not alone.

yea, not alone
just read the thread what jaerehan posted above, HaRRo explains there which factors influence the rep power
Each user has a different REP Power according to there post count, reputation, length of being here, threads opened and more!

Not looking for factors as much as facts.

I've got a better idea do no need to keep pushing the question. I'm sure this will help others down the road as well.

I have a rep power of +2 which means when I give rep you get +2 points.
+2?? Why haven't you ever thrown any of that awesome rep power my way OX? :D

Just messing with you. I'm only a +2 too.

I've been a member here for a long time and today was the first day I've seen the rep power button thingy.

I think age has a lot to do with it. I have a higher rep then you but I still have +1. Once the $150 Jr VIP + Donor (pink tag) is available shortly, I'll get it. It may up it to +2.

It's not that a care what mine or anyone else's is, but it's good to understand something that you use and that you appreciate others doing to you.

Interesting... how did you go about all of that since March 2010. Is this a new account and your a long-time member or something special.

Title's are not everything but they are cool and set you apart.

Yeah the rep power is hard to fathom. Mine is +3. At first I thought it was based on your rep points, then I thought it was based on your post count, and now I was starting to think it was based on thanked posts? Come to find out it's based on all of that and other factors as well. Great job jaerehan on finding Harros's thread.

one thing I have noticed is when a members rep drops below 10, their rep power becomes 0 and rep they give becomes a neutral. I think that new members have a 0 rep power too untill they have some number of posts and/or time. I also think that rep power is only for +rep, it seems like neg reps count as -1 no matter what your rep power is. I don't know for sure about that though and wouldn't want to neg rep anyone just to test it out.

edit - I guess it doesn't really matter though... at the end of the day your rep, thanks, thanked posts, rep power and all the rest is nice to have but isn't what makes you any money.

Well said GreyWolf.

I also think that the mods use the Google Algorithm to determine rep power. haha

Mines 1 also. Im thinking your right about time. How long you have been on here. Would make sense. Does it subtract when you give? Never noticed if it did or not

No, it doesn't subtract if you give. I can see the pro's and con's of that being the case. Many of us would have negative numbers though. haha
