Reports: Gaddafi captured and killed in Sirte

I really hope Libya will come a better place.
But look at Iraq, it got worse after Saddam died.
While Iraq is a rich country which gets help from other countries.
Libya maybe different, but don't hate Gaddafi. He was maybe weird and a bit cruel but thanks to him Libya is one of the richest countries in Africa. He was economical genius, he invested in somethings which brought massive wealth to Libya.

Maybe cruel? I don't want to turn this into a political discussion but just some stuff why you should not like him (at least for me, and all Libyans)

- Funded Terrorism
- Civil infrastructure, healthcare and the education system have failed beyond disbelief in the last 40 years. (People go outside Libya to to surgeries/operations
- Gaddafi committed some of the most brutal human right excesses in the late 70′s and early 80′s. Libyan students were hanged in universities, sport auditoriums and public squares simply for not adhering to the green book ideology.
- Gaddafi's agents killed WPC Ivon Fletcher outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984 and many other Libyan political dissidents through a campaign that he calls "Eliminating Stray Dogs"
- Abu Sleem prison massacre where he ordered the killing of over 1200 political prisoners
- Gaddafi waged pointless wars in Chad and Uganda where over 20,000 Libyans died
- he HIV infection breakout in Benghazi. Over 500 children where effected because the sterilization equipment were malfunctioning.
The destruction of the mausoleum (in Benghazi) of Omar Mukhtar and the removal of his remains to be buried in a remote Oasis which was an act of desecration to the national pride. (Omar Muhktar is a Libyan hero, he freed Libya from the Italians, and is probably the most respected person in Libya).
- The declaration of war on Switzerland for arresting one of his sons and his wife for beating up the domestic staff.

In Libya, the billboards were not commercials, but pictures of him and a number beside him (the number represents the number of years he ruled Libya).

He had many agents and spies among civilians.

PS it is not because of Gadafi that Libya is rich, it is because Libya has lots of oil, even if it were not Gadafi ruling, the other government would know that there are tons of oil and would take advantage of it as Gadafi did (but Gadafi did not invest in Libya, just a bit).

Well i can agree on that he was cruel. But its not true that Gaddafi invested a little in Libya. He invested allot in Libya, look at other governments they use all the money creating weapons and Nuclear bomb. Look at the other African countries, which have great resources(Gold,Oil,Bauxite etc etc) What do they with the money? They arm children and make them fight do death. Qaddafi could have done the same, waste all the money. But he didn't.

The Libyan economy depends primarily upon revenues from the oil sector, which constitute practically all export earnings and about one-quarter of gross domestic product (GDP). The discovery of the oil and natural gas reserves in the country in 1959 led to the transformation of Libya's economy from a poor country to (then) Africa's richest. The World Bank defines Libya as an 'Upper Middle Income Economy', along with only seven other African countries.[141] In the early 1980s, Libya was one of the wealthiest countries in the world; its GDP per capita was higher than that of developed countries such as Italy, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and New Zealand.[142]
Today, high oil revenues and a small population give Libya one of the highest GDPs per capita in Africa and have allowed the Libyan state to provide an extensive level of social security, particularly in the fields of housing and education.[143] Many problems still beset Libya's economy however; unemployment is the highest in the region at 21%, according to the latest census figures.[144]
Compared to its neighbors, Libya enjoys a low level of both absolute and relative poverty. Libyan officials in the past six years have carried out economic reforms as part of a broader campaign to reintegrate the country into the global capitalist economy.[145] This effort picked up steam after UN sanctions were lifted in September 2003, and as Libya announced in December 2003 that it would abandon programs to build weapons of mass destruction.[146]

Tonight's T.V. news coverage shows the people of Libya celebrating in the streets. They seem extremely happy to be free to govern themselves and make their own choices.

Not all people in all countries know what freedom feels like. The rest of us take this liberty for granted and don't know how lucky we are.

illusions no body free in this world you said now people can choose what they want of course not what they want coz usa and nato will make elected who will serve them best just like in iraq an d afganistan

if people want islamist to be rule you think usa and west will respect the people choices?

crap
I was born and raised in Libya, not Libyan though.

Libyans never paid taxes in Libya, that's true, there were only Business taxes.

1650 euros, I don't think so.

Each family takes 300 euros monthly? False, maybe you have confused it with something else, maybe that if a person who gets his retirement payment dies, his daughter(s) will keep getting his payments until they are married.

to beest123

Come to Tripoli (capital) , check out the city, it is OK, not a lot of skyscrapers etc, with the amount of money Libya gets, you should expect Libya to be amazingly huge.

There is corruption, etc.

I have lived in Libya all my life, I really love Libya even though I am not Libyan, the lifestyle is totally different , I am currently outside Libya (temporary) and I can't stand it anymore, I am counting every minute, waiting every second, to go back to Libya, my home.

Cause I am a foreigner there, I am not Libyan, so I don't need my rights.

They lived rich, but money doesn't bring full happiness, there are people who are rich, but don't leave happy, that is what happens with Libyans. They are rich, but the city isn't really good, there are no parties there like in clubs etc, it is only house parties... the young people (which are the ones fighting mostly) don't really have a place to go out with friends etc.

Not really, Assad Bashar is still in power because the situation is different, they are protesting without weapons, while in Libya, the freedom fighters have weapons and supplies.

And NATO isn't doing strikes against Syria's military, and not putting spec ops on the ground to help the rebels.

I hope no one takes you too seriously, here. The source for your claims you posted in your earlier post is a joke.

there are no parties there like in clubs
Seriously? You complain that there are not enough Skyscrapers and parties?? rofl

Heard anything of the satelite system Gaddafi financed for Africa? Or the Great Man-Made River Project the "8th wonder of the world" he invested $25 Billion in, to provide water for Libya and its neighbours. Plus he had plans to introduce the african gold dinar, which would support the african countries, as well. etc.

You clearly do not know much about Libya, although you say you lived there.

On 1st of July 2011, 1.7 MILLION People gathered and assembled on Green Square, Tripoli, to show defiance against the NATO Bombing of Libya, this represented about 95% of the population of Tripoli ,and about 1/3rd the total population of Libya. More than half of them were holding golden framed pictures of Gaddafi.
I am not able to post links unfortunately.
Look it up on youtube/google or anywhere, there are reliable sources out there and there is actual footage backing up everything I mentioned.
The Rebels are just criminals supported by the CIA and NATO. They do not represent the majority of Libya.

I'm not fighting or anything ;) no reason to lol.

I know this all, and it actually isn't the 8th wonder of the world (official)

and about On 1st of July 2011 , the 1 million march that gadafi claims, is actually not true, there were people, but not even close to 1 million, probably few thousands. Libya has a population of 6 million, and most of them hate Gadafi.
On that day, many of them were from the government, paid, etc, he wanted 1 million people to be there, but he was not even close (I have friends as witnesses).
I have real sources, friends from Libya (many) updating me etc (and no, they are not BSing).

Yes he did some good stuff obviously, but it doesn't mean he can go around and kill innocent children and people, how would you feel if he killed your family and then offered you money? Obviously pissed, Money is worth nothing compared to a human being, in his mind it's different.

You say the freedom fighters are actually with gadafi etc? How would you explain that ALL my friends (I really do mean ALL, except 1 who is very high in the government) are against Gadafi, they were always anti, I remember when I was about grade 3 or something, we were talking , and they all said they didn't like Gadafi (which they learnt from their parents, at age 3, we don't know politics), so if it came from their parents, LIBYANS.... I'm pretty sure you know what I mean.

And no I am not complaining about skyscrapers and parties, I am just saying there aren't places to go out, don't you go out to see friends in restaurants etc? In Libya it's different, I have personal experience, I am living 15 years in Libya, and I am pretty sure I know enough information.

BTW May I ask from where are you (Which country) if you don't mind of course :)

Gadafi did some good stuff, but doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants.

Nope, Libya is not an very Islamic country, it is average as every other country. I know many people who fought in this war, and they are not even close to being Islamists, they are Muslims of course, everyone should follow their religion, no matter what, but I would like to ask you to not discuss about religion please.... as it might go to confusion.

Dead men tell no tales, about how the West infiltrated his country with intelligence agents, who trained, equipped and aided the rebels to perform their "spontaneous" rebellion against the government, and basically just stole Libya's independence. It will now become entirely co-opted by the US/EU/Israel, its oil controlled by Western oil giants, its gold confiscated from its people, and its cash converted from an equity-based, government issued currency into fiat-based, international banker controlled endless debt. Ain't freedom grand?

+100%, it will be raped. The Libianians dont know what they got themself into.

The new government have blood on their hands, and the west is waiting when to enter their pieholes.

RIP Gaddafi...one of the realest!
