Is it part of your SEO strategy? It is part of mine. Having someone who rank better than you get a penalty is just as good as bumping your own ranking. I have reported a few competitors to Google. In many niches, most of the results are websites that have been pushed with blackhat techniques: comment spam, link farms, etc... it seems like everyone is doing it now. It's common practice and it's against Google's guidelines. However, I've never seen any of my competitors get a penalty, get de-indexed, etc... I've waited a few weeks, and even a few months ... nothing. The results pages are pretty much the same, with the occasional new player showing up on the first page. Did any of you had any luck getting a competitor de-indexed and penalized for going against Google's webmaster guidelines? Is it just a waste of time to report a website?
