... I have noticed a disturbing trend recently where JrVIPS are being accused of being Rep Whores or involved in Rep Circles.
There may be a tiny minority involved in such practices but the truth does not match the accusations.
As with all communities we tend to be drawn to people that share our values or sense of humour.
So it stands to reason that we are likely to rep those people more often and those people will tend to have already friended each other.
This in turn means we are likely to see each others posts more than those in the rest of the forum.
I +rep and -neg where I see fit and will neg JrVIPS if they are talking bullshit but in general JrVIPS tend to be reluctant to neg rep each other.
This may be a form of respect and also the fear of getting negged back, but it is irrelevant.
Those members who have high Rep counts have either contributed to the forum or are amongst the members who sign in here EVERY SINGLE DAY.
It is obvious that you will be more likely to receive rep if you are AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FORUM.
I have contributed NOTHING of great value to this forum, so why is my rep so high?
It might have to do with the fact that BHW is open in my browser 12+ hours a day.
I might post shit but at least I am an active shit poster.
Now there seem to be some people demanding change in the rep situation but I have always been told and always thought that REP IS BULLSHIT.
So my question is, if rep is bullshit, WHY DOES IT HAVE TO CHANGE?
All of the systems ARE open to abuse, rep, thanks and even iTrader CAN be abused.
In fact it would be better to let us have UNLIMITED thanks as sometimes I have repped people when a thanks would have been sufficient but had used up my quota for the day.
The people making the accusations seem to be people that have been negged by JrVIPS and rather than look at themselves and question WHY they got neeged they just jump to the conclusion that there is some great JrVIP conspiracy going on.
The funny thing is, that the people who are throwing around these accusations are the people who ARE NOT PARTICIPATING in the forum, DO NOT ADD VALUE or are just posting shittier TROLL material than I post.
This will make me sound like a petty wanker (it's OK, I am) but ONE of the reasons I upgraded was because I was concerned that if I got negged I would be pissed off not knowing who did it. I was never afraid of being negged, just that it would frustrate me not knowing who did it.
That is why I ALWAYS inform somebody that it was me that negged them and the reason why.
Maybe if changes ARE going to be made then the anonymous rep feature should be removed, not the whole system.
As far as I know, I have only ever been negged once and that was by a fellow JrVIP by accident (or so they say hmm, j/k).
Rep doesn't bother me any more (I got loads j/k) so give me + or give me - I couldn't give a flying F@CK.
I come to BHW for 1 reason and that is to LEARN and expand my knowledge of things that other people know more about and are thankfully willing to share.
I am not interested in earning rep.
This is MY OPINION only, the Mods and Admin may be seeing other things going on so it would be great if they could comment.
I now open this up to the forum for calm discussion and sensible debate.
P.S I have had trouble sleeping recently and have been going for 48+hours so none of the above may make sense.
