Hi All,
In a weird situation, when this ecomm business was first setup our .ca domain name was not available (we are a canadian company). So client purchased .com and made our canadian site oursite.com and our american site usa.oursite.com
We have finally be able to purchase our .ca domain name and want to switch oursite.com (canada) to outside.ca
and usa.oursite.com to oursite.com
I believe i need to perma 301 the usa.oursite.com links to oursite.com, but that means i have to leave the .ca hanging and have google treat it as a brand new site?
Also, with new GSC i cannot manually select which site i want to be specific to each country, this is done at googles whim, how can i ensure canadians are shown .ca and americans shown .com in organic search?
