Hi guys,

I want to have your input on this.

If you are running a new website, will removing old blog posts with 0 traffic improve your traffic?

I read a case study of a well-known company doing it, and they improve their ranking significantly.

Not sure if this applies to news-type websites.

will removing old blog posts with 0 traffic improve your traffic?
Instead of removing it I prefer to update it and optimize it based on serp the top results.
This works most of the times and there's improvement in ranking.

Not true
Older articles have nothing to do with keywords chosen for the latest posts

If you remove the old posts it will impact your ranking if the content is low quality.

I think that that those posts should be optimized and edited and republish.

Get a complete of blogs that you have and short list them based on metrics and relevancy if they don't met the criteria then removing them would do a lot of improvements.

It's a kind of odd, new website with old blog posts means?

If you have old posts first analyze the metrics stats and the how many kws are ranking for that article because the traffic will increase depending on the keyword you choose for that page so analyse it twice before remove them

After that try to re-edit with more words and add 2 and more external links for that article and analyze how the leads will flow

if re-edit articles won't work means then remove them

It is not recommended as it can have a negative impact on your traffic and search engine rankings. This is because old blog posts can still attract traffic and provide value to readers, even if they were written several years ago.

As deleting posts will cause many 404 errors, I will personally never delete the posts. Try to update them with new content.

Removing old posts may or may not help improve your website's ranking. There are many reasons why old blog posts are not receiving any traffic, such as the content quality, keywords, or being not properly optimized.

Typo issue. I mean "News Website."

I removed a lot of old low quality articles from one of my well-established site and nothing really happened. Everything stayed the same in terms of incoming traffic and rankings.

if the psot is indexed then u can edit it and add some more content to it. this could prove helpful rather than removing it.

If the old blog posts are outdated, low-quality, or have no relevance to your current audience, removing them may improve your rankings by consolidating your website's focus and providing a better user experience. This is because Google's algorithms tend to favor websites that have fresh, high-quality, and relevant content that meets user intent.

So, removing old blog posts can be a good idea or you can also update your old posts.

Instead of removing the old articles you can update those articles and do proper internal linking. It will help a lot.
