Relocating to america

Hi,

My biggest desire from 0 or lets say 14 :D it was to move to america. Now I decided to give it a try especialy now when my earnings boosted :P So I am moving to US (about visas and stuff ill go check in few days) I am more interested in where to move. I will move with my friend so I got someone to split the rent 50/50. The only thing I need is that it should be on a coast or if there are any good recomendations please do I am open for all suggestions.

My thinking was now when summer is starting to begin to move to NY and then when its starting to get cold move to San Diego, LA, or something ... Anything which will come hand for me i would be glad if you tell me :D Btw I think Ill be moving in the beggining of june.

you want a good place? move to the scandinavian countries....heavon on earth i swear to god..its a paradise.
went there for a vacation last year..dint wanna come back
 
That really depends on your income. I went to the Philippines! Forget being a corporate slave!

NYC is nothing really special unless you plan on going out every night with your boys but that gets boring sooner or later
 
For me its not just the party, I will party but NYC was always promised land for me. I could just watch to youtube videos how planes land at JFK :P
 
Where are you living at the moment, I went to NYC back in 2007.
I really want to move there!
 
check out Boston also, cold in winter. On the other coast San Francisco is also a great place.

Just arrive and keep moving around, soon you will find "home" :D
 
Went to NY in 1969....LOL Parking was $12 way back then in Manhattan and took 2 hours to drive home to Flushing .
Nup.... I will stay where I am. Probably exciting if you are young but I am into peace and quiet these days.
But USA and Canada were absolutely wonderful to visit. I currently live in Gods Own Country.
 
I live near NY, and visit frequently. It's OK, EU is where it's at. I am a die-hard patriot for my country even though I just spent the last 5 yrs of my life in a Federal Prison on a case the "Government" hyped up. I have been to EU when times were really good for me, and would drop everything to live there. Most people from other countries get sucked up into the propaganda that the US massively disperses. We are a great country...don't get me wrong. Are we the absolute best to live in? That is a matter of opinion. Given our current "exaggerated" economic situation, I can think of hundreds of places I would rather be. I already started trading all my dollars into Euros. :D
 
I lived in new york city for many years and I think I'd suggest New York. It's great for our unusual hours as marketers and loads of things to motivate you
 
I visited NYC a few years ago. That trip will be my first and last trip. I have no desire to return. Of course, I feel the same about most large American cities. The only one I would remotely consider living in is Chicago. The weather could be better, but the people are nicer and there are many things to do.

Well yea, EVERYONE here would love to move to San Diego. You also mentioned the two most expensive areas to live in America.

Just curious, what's the big appeal of America? (Note: they removed the gold paving from the streets back in the 50's.)

If you are making your money online and can live anywhere on the planet, why go to the most expensive spot? (OK, I think you UK blokes have a tad more.)
 
If you're making all of your money online you might be better off staying where you are or moving to a poorer country. If you really want to be in the US try the midwest area. Basically everything is about getting more bang for your buck. I live in New Jersey and it's considered an expensive state, but New York and California are probably worse. You can buy nice houses in other states for what it costs to rent an apartment here. Cheap states are good if you don't have to rely on the local economy, you can live a good lifestyle without breaking the bank. Then when you want to take a vacation go to the more expensive parts of the country (you won't be missing much).
 
I just love the big city. I'm only 18 and I moved out of home (New Zealand) to live in Sydney, Australia. I really gotta see New York though.
 
Having lived in 8 states and the District (and Switzerland and Mexico), New York is the last place in the US I would live. It's ok to visit but I have zero desire to be there long-term. If, for some reason I *had* to live in the NYC area I'd probably live in Queens. But, IMO, there are better cities where you can have a similar lifestyle for less money.

But really, I'm with atomicvenom. I love the US and think it has the potential to be a great country but things are just all jacked up right now. I've been back in the country since November and am counting the days until I can get out again. Hopefully by the end of the month.

Finally, if you do decide to go the NYC route, I hope your earnings REALLY went up. A lot.

Cost of living is crazy in NY. I'm in queens right now. If you're making decent $$ I would invest in a condo while the market is down.

And France, Swiss, Luxembourg, Japan ... Seriously IMO America can be considered cheap compared to some others countries.

A flat almost anywhere in Paris is as expensive as one in Manathan.
