Is it a good idea to handle both while being a very busy person and trying to get your life sorted? Anyone in such a situation where they are juggling the two together? Or is a relationship a distraction?

Sometimes I just feel so down, it's crazy... I know it's "one" of those posts but FML I can't decide whether I'm just looking for excuses to not get my shit and my career sorted the way I want it (laziness, procrastination, etc) or if I'm longing for a relationship? Or maybe it's just hormones?

Any sensible advice? I'm all ears and will probably decide things based on the answers I get as I just can't decide for myself. They say behind every successful man there's a successful women, really?

I'm currently juggling my company/IM work, university and a relationship, and I'm very happy! She makes me smile the moment I see her which is good for staying in a good mood, and is always there to chat with if I feel like sticking my head up my own arse and jumping off the balcony for not getting anything done.

Naturally the opposite sex does require quite a lot of time, but in my opinion it's totally worth it.

Naturally we will all be driven to reproduce/be in a relationship - that's not something that should be ignored. However, you should not make your relationship the reason you get up in the morning. You primary motivation should still be your career and goals - put it ahead of your relationship, your partner should understand that you're on your path in life and they will respect that. It is a delicate balance you need to find, and that point may be different for everyone. Certain relationships you may want to end because they are effecting you negatively, but assuming you find the right person, you should definitely strive for both. As your success grows, it will become even harder to manage a relationship.

That said, you should also be totally happy and comfortable with yourself, outside of a relationship. Co-dependency is not a good thing.

I own an escort service and a lot of the client are busy with a career and to busy for a relationship seems to work because the majority of clients are in this situation and are doing well. A lot of people think people who get escorts are ugly and can't get laid and it's just not the case majority just don't have time for all the work you have to put into dating.

Career all the way. Build yourself up to where you want to be

Mate, this is not blackescortworld.com .BTW some of your remarks are true.

Work is important but relationship is more. If you rspend to much time in your work you will regret it later.

depends on person ... if the person in whom you are interested would put you above his/her career then you should reciprocate too.

I absolutely love my relationship and the girl its with. However, a good amount of time and money that could be spent on IM is spent with her.

So, it totally depends on the girl. If she's worth it, then yes, it is worth it.

BOTH.

They go hand in hand with each other. Period.

No amount of money is worth if you don't have someone to spend it with.

Yes, this is truth behind every successful man have woman hand.

If your lady supports and pushes you towards your goals then stick with both :)

But whatever you do, do not dump yourself and your plans. Keep building yourself up into the ultimate awesome! Don't forget to play along the way ;)

Quality girls won't cost you your career. They will motivate you, support you and the time you give them in return will be worth it - maybe it will even impact your career in a positive way.

I know these girls are a rarity but they do exist. I personally don't think I will be able to stick with my career + IM shenenigans if I'm all alone all the time - at least not in the long run. So a good girl by my side is a must, even though I'm single currently ...

I always find that a woman brings out the best in me and makes me more focussed on real life vs fun.

If there is a need for you to post this question, then I guess you're in some serious dilemma and your relationship is what keeping you down from reaching your goals.

YMMV but always remember Money = Respect = Power = Happiness = honeycomb for girls.

I've experienced such thing myself in the past and the girl I've dated had a PD and I never knew or heard about that before until I realized there were a lot of red flags and I'm losing control of myself and my goals until I ended the relationship for good. Trust me, that is the best decision I've ever made in my life. Genders of the opposite sex shouldn't be a burden, if not., encouraging.

Is this person doing you any good?
Are they happy for your accomplishments?
Do you feel like you need to babysit them?

They shouldn't be the reason for your living. Take a step back and try to see it from different perspective.

There were so many fish in the sea after all. Good luck!

I'd like to thank everyone for their input especially those who wrote a little more than a one liner, some good advice there. My Thanks button run out so not everyone got thanked.

I think I've made my mind up and for now I will be going solo, not because I don't want a relationship but more so because I first have to get my shit together and sort some personal problems out. I was asking as I had my eye on someone but I'm going to stand back for now. I'm still young so hopefully I won't lose out too much and instead improve things for the future.
