So I logged into a Twitter account I have, but the confirmation email was not arriving. And there was no other way to receive the verification code. I started thinking I'm gonna have to contact Twitter support, and it's gonna take forever, and they may not even give me the account back anyway. Ughhhh I hate that shit...

So luckily the account is phone verified, and so I did a password recovery, received an SMS to verify, and I got back in.

But a few minutes earlier I had logged into a different Twitter account, and the verification email arrived immediately.

The difference is, the one that worked is on rediffmail, and the one that didn't is on self-hosted email address. I don't know if it's relevant, but there you go.

And I have a policy to never use self-hosted email addresses when registering social media accounts. Once I lost an Instagram account this way, because Instagram banned my website on their platform, and so they wouldn't send emails to an email address ending with @mywebsite.com. I tried contacting them and everything, but I couldn't get back in my account. That old account still exists in the depths of the internets, but I created a new account after that so that I can have an Instagram account for my website that's active.

It's best to use gmail/hotmail/yahoo emails for these things, becuase no one will ever block gmail.com or outlook.com or yahoo.com etc.

Anyway, just wanted to share a good rule to keep you from losing any account due to a stupid detail, and if anyone experiences the same issue with getting into a Twitter account, there's your solution.

I changed the email in the account now from the self-hosted one to a gmail. The verification code arrived instantly.

That's better :)

Happens to me sometimes too. If it happens i usually wait a day and then retry it. That fixes it for me.

Yeah I don't know. On Rediffmail and on Gmail I receive the code instantly. On self-hosted email, after 3 attempts about 15 minutes apart, nothing.

Cheers :)

I no longer use self hosted emails on twitter, i find hotmail/outlook works best and easier to setup (manually) than gmail's
