If you are a windows user, I recommend EditPlus. This is just as good..if not better than Dreamweaver in my opinion and only cost about $40. Dreamweaver is excellent but cost around $200. EditPlus provides the cleanest code out of any HTML editor I have ever used.

For Mac users:

Blue Griffon, Kompozer or Page Spinner will work

completely agree with you. EditPlus is the superior option. Be true pioneer with web design.

Definitely would recommend Dreamweaver. It's not very hard to learn, there are plenty of tutorials on the web and it does all the work for you. If you're bothered about it being bundled with a ton of unnecessary code, you're more than welcome to remove it.

I personally hate website builders as they always leave a bad taste in my mouth. If you really want to learn. grab yourself Notepad++ or even Netbeans PHP, Xampp so you can develop on your localhost, and look at the tutorials at w3schools. If you want something quick, despite my opinion of it, dreamweaver is where you'll want to be.

Take a look at Adobe Muse. There was an article in Barrons that talk about the tons of money being poured into Muse by Adobe. They really want this to work. It is still in beta form so it's free. Some of the websites built on Muse so far are really good. It is also very user friendly.

Dreamweaver's the best - and it doesn't take too much time to learn. It's a WYSIWIG interface and you can buy Dreamweaver templates for a few $ that'll get you started.
