Try using Pingdom's testing tools instead of GTMetrix and look for files in the timeline that's delaying the load time. I am pretty sure its the 3rd party API links that could be causing the problems on your end.

Also, try lazy loading.

It is not the theme. It is your $1 a century hosting package.

Oh and you can check tools-pingdom-com to see which part slows the loading.

Schema is a good shout for the price. Genesis if you don't mind paying a bit more.

how about using a cache plugin along with Cloud flare, you should be able to get any theme to load decently as long as your not serving up giant images or video

Cloudflare, caching, hosting, templates are numbers of ways to improve the load speed. Not just the template.
