Recent Scrapebox Proxy Issue, everyone should note

@equalizer:

On your earlier question to me, I've no idea what happened when you saved proxies in sbox. Does the scenario you described happen consistently, or was it a one off? I've never had that issue with sbox.

And personally, my experience with sbox and proxies has been quite positive. It does a very specific job for its proxy tester and (IMO) it does it very well. I get what Tensegrity is saying as far as reporting of type of proxy, but SB doesn't do that. As far as a proxy tester in general, IMO you can't go wrong with Charon:

Thank you gregstereo for the charon thread. I'm going to spend a few days soaking in all those great tuts. As to the proxies, scrapebox doesn't save the good "g-passed" proxies when the box "ignore g" is deselected. Here's a short video showing the process:
Code:
http://screencast.com/t/hsedYCmC
The proxies are saved when the "ignore g" is selected.

In your vid - where it reports the count of proxies - goog passed = 4 but IP passed = 0. So none of them are "good", which would result in an empty file when the good are saved.

Ahh! So what counts is the IP passed, not the g passed. Thanks gregstereo for your help. You're the Man! :)

When the "Ignore Google" is deselected, Scrapebox needs to do both a Google check AND an IP Test check. In the video, IP Test Pass = 0, so this results in 0 proxies to save.

Hope that makes sense!

I'm going to smack myself if I keep getting results all over the board like this.

So I ran a list of 10k(EDIT: wasn't 10k, it was 600 that google and IP passed from my list of 10k that I decided to run to check again with another test) and got 500 g passed and 200 that also ip passed.
ok, fine, nothing too unusual here.

I then run the exact same list, but ignore google, this time...400 IP Pass

In regards to anonymity, Google doesn't like it when it knows you're using a proxy, but can't find you. "transparent" proxies work miraculously in scrapebox when harvesting google. Run your list of google passed proxies in software that tells whether it's high anon, anon, or transparent...many many many of the ones that google pass are transparent (and this is checking with multiple judges/software).

I'm just going crazy...How does out of 500 that passed google's dumbass test, 100 IP passed...but when I just IP test the 500 that google passed, I get 400 IPs that work?

my only conclusion here is that scrapebox does actually kind of test what type of proxies you're using. if it google and ip passed: transparent. If it just IP passed, there is (i guess) a higher level of anonymity.

I'm going to do this anal style and check to see whether the ones that just IP passed failed google's test.

If the lists overlap, I'm going to take a bath with my microwave and toaster.

Well, as you can see from this thread, me and a few other people share your frustrations :( I would stay away from radios in bathrubs though, you can't make much money when you're dead :P

Tensegrity, what proxy tester do you recommend?

I wrote my own. It's flawless. And I customized it to weed out what will work with SB.

I get what Tensegrity is saying as far as reporting of type of proxy, but SB doesn't do that.

It should. No reason not to. If it's already checking to see what type of proxy then it shouldn't be that much more difficult to add a simple reporting mechanism of what type it is and allow the option to use it regardless of what SB recommends.

Customers reported problems with SB to me again.

I opened it up today and see there are 3 updates that happened, it's now on 1.15.41

The proxy tester looks almost entirely different. I throw in a list of 5 proxies that I just tested manually through FireFox (javascript, images and cookies all turned off to test), and I know are all anonymous, and ScrapeBox says Error Timeout on every one.

Yes, the timeout setting seems not to be applied.
This bug has been reported to the ScrapeBox official thread.
Softtouch will certainly works on it soon. It's the weekend :D
