You think that RankBrain is getting more contious/selfaware and actually discoverd that he/she/it likes porn more then action flicks?
That could turn out to be a bit of a PR problem for Alphabet; RB going the Tay route.
Could be fun though.
Anyway enjoy the increased ranking.

but really many of my competitors got hit too, some new site rised ranking, butif they are not ready with the server, probabily will not stay....

that specific is a google update look like they are giving a chance to sites on lower rankings to show up higher, poretty big sites lost rankings too

the education/business training website im working on got hit pretty big. maybe because no one thought about good content ... but hey im there and cannot do anything about it because i haven't got myself informed enough about their topic. My boss who dont know anything more than "being on top of google is gud" about SEO is driving me nuts because he dont understand the rankdrops

Well content is super important in my Opinion, many many reasons behind, aka the user interaction with the site, plus of course SEO, etc.
In my case my sites in the movie niche are still in bad shape, but all the sites in my country and niche had been hit, I think I will need new domains and start again.
Adult niche instead the other way around, ranking and traffic x3, so as for total traffic I have more than before

I got hit very bad by this new update (lost about 40 % and it seems to keep dropping), but I noticed that content quality doesn't matter to google anymore, but relevancy. What is relevancy in the eyes of Google? I thought I was relevant with long keyword-rich, high quality articles, but apparently I was wrong. Lord have mercy on our souls...
Killed is a very bold statement.. I have no doubt that I will be able to recover from this bullsh*t.
Do you have any stats or sources to back up your claim? I saw people complaining about slightly less traffic, but nothing more (of course, my 40 % drop is dramatic enough, but I don't think it will stick.... I hope).
