Yes, this might be the reason.

If it's just threats for now and you want it to all go away, terminate your contract. Pay your parents the penalty fee. Get a new computer if you suspect your current one to be the problem, and keep the old one dormant in case the situation escalates somehow. Switch to shaw (they have better internet anyways). What part of Canada are you from?

Things to do -
1) Run Malware Bytes. You get a free trial. Enough to remove s#its.
2) Run Hitman Pro.
3) Install Bit Defender Total Security. You get a free 30-day trial. Enough to remove s#its.
4) Let us know the cracked apps are you using in your PC? And where are you downloading them from?

I agree about wipe everything but before that you need to make sure it's ur pc

1 - Borrow a laptop or from a friend/parents and use it for some time using ur regular stuff, GMT2 and CPA

If you still get the messages then its not the pc, if you don't get it, get rid of the pc or the hard desk at least

2 - if u still getting the message, then its time to stop all IM activities, just shut down the laptop and pc and plug off internet cord

If you still get the messages, you are innocent, if not, its something to do with IM tools/activities. Nulled tool, vurenable tools..etc

3 - If you still get the message, the yiur internet port is hacked by a neighbour which I think is weak probability

I believe this should lead u directly to the problem

It's also possible it's your router.
Routers are turned into botnets all the time nowadays.

Worth looking into anyway, if you can't pinpoint malware on your computer.

If you did nothing wrong, why try to cover your tracks? Just bring the computer to the cops and play the saint dude. Easy way out.

Apparently, there have been 6700 attempts to hack into some random bank from my IP.

100% coming from my PC, I guess still have some sort of malware still on my PC.

I'm kind of nervous to see what unfolds of this situation, hopefully, no legal issues.

I'm going to bring my PC into the shop either tomorrow or some other day this week.

If your IP was seen in 6700 attempts to "hack into" some bank then the police would be kicking your door in at 6am way before your ISP got around to emailing you.

Please dont follow any of the advice in this thread to take it to the cops or anything! Well, unless you dont want to see again it for a very long time (if ever). It wont solve anything. If they want it let them come take it.

Fact is. You are part of a botnet. It has maybe been used to DDOS a bank or something.

Follow the advice in this thread about cleaning up all your PC's first. Dont forget to consider rogue apps on phones and tablets. Personally I think reformatting is outdated advice as there's a lot of other shit on our home networks these days that should be considered first. So be sure you are formatting correct drive before you go that far at least.

Someone mentioned your router above. Thats good advice. Its quite prevalent right now with various active exploits. Make sure to properly power cycle your router at the very least. If you can, do a factory reset on it.

I've completely wiped my PC and plan on calling up my ISP and asking them to give me a new IP. (Since the hackers may be using my IP as a proxy or something like that)
