Read This Before Reusing Expired Articles

Hey guys,

I was browsing some expired domains related to my niche and came across a good domain with great long articles and I decided to re-use them on my money site as they are.

Because they look really great and useful I decided to contact the previous owner whom I found on Facebook to ask him if I can copy and use that content.

And here is the reply I got from him

So guys, be careful if you just copy and paste the expired content from an expired domain as it was because this may get you in trouble later...

Yep, that can happen. Props to you for contacting the original owner! In any case, these articles are still good if you rewrite them.

yeah rewriting them could be fine even if they are no longer indexed

What if one of those sites you took articles to repost them on your site come back online and Google re-indexed those articles?

Actually, lots of people are wondering about this situation. I haven't seen any thread facing this issue. It is very rare condition

yes we need to at least rewrite them.
btw is it the real owner? if yes how come he only simply ask about the article. Not like who you buy it from etc..

Why would you copy paste an article in the first place , even if it's from an expired domain , rewriting isn't that hard.

In some case it happen. And it won't stop the content thieves from scraping expired articles.

What a joke. "...my site was stolen come renewal day." He just wants his articles now that he knows someone else wants to use them.

Yeah. I just checked waybackmachine I think he deleted them cause it displays error and the domain is parked now.

How would anyone know who the author is?

If the domain name is live, it proves he owns it.

If the domain is dead, there's no proof.

A DMCA filing would fail IMO.

It was ethical of you to contact them and so on but legally this wouldn't fly.

I contacted the official page of the website he still using it but with another website.

I got this his reply about 1 month ago I just checked and I can't find the articles on archive he deleted him from there I guess

If your domain has got more power in google eyes your domain will be ok.

Thanks OP, but to be honest, I have never had an issue with content from any of the expired domains that I have acquired.

I probably would have used those articles without contacting the previous domain owner, but to each his own.
