Hi,
This is a question for anyone who has successfully done a disavow in the past!
I have a site that was in the top three positions for a medium-competitive travel keyword before Penguin. It essentially had several, awesome natural links and then I brought it to page one using shitty directory links with spammy keywords. After doing the disavow for all of the shitty directory links, I got it up to page 3 for the main keyword. Now my question is, what is the best way to build links from now on?
After doing the disavow, does the bad anchor text profile stay, since the directory links are essentially "no-followed" - so I should only build brand/generic links??
Or, is it safe to basically start over, and build keyword-rich anchors again (at a very low frequency of course)?
The keyword has 30,000 monthly searches, medium competition. After Penguin there are huge brands that have taken over page 1, (like nytimes.com, etc), so it won't be an easy battle. But I'm armed with a huge PBN, so just need to figure out how to work out the anchor texts optimally at this point.
