Rapidshare Farewells CAPTCHA (Image Code) And Wait Restrictions For Free Users

After annoying free users with hard to read CAT CAPTCHA's, World's biggest one click file-hoster Rapidshare has finally done farewell to CAPTCHA altogether, Rapidshare also announced that from now free users will be able to download without any waits until starting a succeeding download, however now free users will be restricted to a maximum speed of 500 kilobit per second.



Premium users will also now have more flexibility regarding the download volume, now they are able to download a maximum of 10 gigabyte per day and can be "saved" now to a maximum of 50 Gigabyte. As a consequence, the volume that was not used is transferred to the following day automatically, up to a maximum of 50 gigabyte, Also, earlier Premium and Collector's Accounts were credited a RapidPoints when a file was downloaded by a Free User but From now, Premium Downloads can generate up to 255 additional RapidPoints per day. Those extra points will be displayed in the account overview in the Premium or Collector's Zone.Once a day, the extra points will be added to the Premium or Collector's Account's RapidPoints balance and the extra points counter will be reset to zero.

The CATS were the most annoying CAPTCHA I have ever seen.

This sux. I?d rather type in captcha than download with only 500kbit.
Thank god there are other services we can use, like Mediafire, etc.

MediaFire is the best of them all, if you dont have an premium account.

Thanks for the addition. Unfortunately it's too late to edit the poll.

However if 500 kbit/sec is too slow, then you have an option for higher speed by a Premium account.

RS explained well why was needed to introduce this limitation for free users (to avoid overload by automated downloads).

Information about RapidPoints:

Only files stored in the Collector's Zone (here) can score points. Once they are downloaded by a free-user, each of them generates a RapidPoint. Subject to the condition is that the file is at least 3 Megabyte in size and the downloader has generated not more than 3 RapidPoints in the last hours. Premium users can generate for you up to 255 points per day.

With these rules, we protect ourselves against abuse.

And used to be at least 1 MB, not 3.

This will give collectors some extra work to inflate the files.

Wasn't it before 5 in the last day, not in the last hour? I can't remember well.

Maximum upload size is now 200 MB, while it used to be 100 MB.
Large archives are welcome.

That damn dog & cat thing was annoying as hell. It would take me like 3 tries sometimes to get it right
