Rant: Why I'm a Black Hat SEO

Wasn't really my intention to justify the decision (although I can see how that came across).

Mostly just pointing out people's hypocrisy. White hat's will talk themselves up while doing things that I consider to be worse than most black hats. :)

sorry homey wasn't trying to cause problems.

you are right though, self righteous white hat seos make me sick.

here is why:

they sit there and follow matt cutts and rand dickskin as if they are the be all and end all of seo. whatever they say is followed as if its the word of god.

then they get jobs or clients for seo, publicly sharing how they are white hat all the way. sounds good to the client because they were told to follow the gospel of the white hat crowd. taking a sip of the kool aid.

then said seo's don't perform and produce results. sure they may have changed a few title tags, added some bullshit canonical issues to pages, modified and created some cool content but didn't do much. clients get pissed because the kool-aid service providers didn't perform and get higher rankings while charging ridiculous 5-figure monthly fees.

these service providers then go on to talk about how white hat "takes time" to do the right way.

fucking bullshit. they have a duty to get shit done and make things happen for the client. their duty is determine how aggressive of a campaign a client is comfortable with and not the other way around. meanwhile the seo industry gets a bad wrap because these imbeciles sell a fantasy white-hat feel good philosophy while producing no results.

take the time to go to some seo conventions and white-hat meetups. you'll want to throw up in your mouth a little bit after having a real down and dirty conversation with them. seo "managers" that dont have a fucking clue how the real world seo takes place.

Dawg, here's a true story: one of my sites is the mothertucking number 1 in its niche and dominating like a boss. All good and dandy, every day I receive emails from people wanting a link from my site. A couple of months ago I got an interesting email from a nice lady working for a marketing agency and she asked me through email if I could put a link in one of my popular articles to her site as, according to her, "her site offered extra value to my visitor as it served as a reference". There was no mention of nofollowing the link; I'd simply post the link at the end of the article.

U wat m8?

Instead of b*tch slapping the hoe right there, I started pulling the strings and mentioned that I could do more posting of her links in my blog. "Awesome!", she must have thought. She even called me on Skype as we started to get along nicely (and she was one fly honey, nam' saiyan dawg? We talked and talked and I seduce her with my James Bond cyber skills to tell me who she works for and what is the business MOA (mechanism of action).

Oh yes she did.

She started mentioning clients of her company and names started to crop out; let's say that one obnoxious white-hat guy who is not well liked here in the forum is part of a conglomerate that outsources the creation of content to then give the content to selected bloggers or to convince them to place links "naturally" as "it would give more information to my visitors".

Anyway, always be skeptic of online world; there's many people who either talk the talk without having walked the walked or people who say one thing and do the opposite when no one is looking.

True story, ban'daloo

Black hat, white hat, whatever can make money is good hat.

great stories, I think we all have been there, every one started with white hat with hopes that maikng links by hang will boost rankings etc

Nice post, I enjoyed your shift to the dark side story. However, if you have created your own backlinks from the beginning then your already blackhat.

I took my time to build links naturally

Sure you were taking your time and making sure everything was unique. However if your readers arn't backlinking and you took it upon yourself then its just blackhat.

Yeah. Was definitely criticising myself with that part. Thinking myself white hat when I was always black hat. I guess the difference now is that I acknowledge it and don't try to hide behind some "honourable" battle cry. :)
