Since I started YouTube roughly 3 months ago I have been trying to figure out what makes a video rank or "go viral". The more I've searched the more frustrated I've become because there seem to be no logic behind it. Shitty videos with tons of dislikes and bad retention get millions of views for no reason. I know there's some shady business behind it except just buying HR views.
Something I've noticed lately on some of the videos that have blown up is liked comments.
Example video number one blew up with 13 million views in a matter of 2 weeks. When you checked the comment section of the video I noticed the owner of the channel had posted a comment that had 5000 likes. Then other people had replied empty comments on that one, each of those with 2-3000 likes. Why would 3000 people like an empty comment? There were also loads of other jibberish comments with thousands of likes. You never see that on "normal" videos even the ones with millions of views. All of these comments are now gone 3 weeks later.
Second example is a video I found today that had literally 0 views the first 12 days then all of a sudden in 5 days it gained 4 million views. What stands out? An abnormal amount of jibberish comments with thousands of likes! Literally people saying random stuff and even identical comments!
Is this a way to trick YouTubes algorithm? Is it something YouTubers pay other people to do?
Has anyone else seen similar examples or know about this? Very interested in discussing YouTubes mysterious algorithm system if anyone has any thoughts or ideas.
