I recently just discovered that my keyword for a particular site was pulling poor traffic, even though it was ranked #2 for a keyword that gets 200k monthly searches.

The reason behind it was that the keyword gets searched mostly from non english speaking places, such as Brazil and Germany etc. I am not ranking well in those countries.

Since the site is a week old, and I have easily gotten my #2 position in the US, UK and Australia, will I gain rank globally?

How do I rank for these countries? Do I need content in that language?

Should I create a language selection feature on my site? And if so will this solve my problem?

Cheers!

You have to create links from countries brazil and germany sites. Sites like these will have their own language, or ending in the domain like .au for australia. You can also try google webmaster and select which country you want to target.

Ranking in all countriesHey, i also need some more suggestions on it because i am working with the same purpose these days.....

What about creating a feature to select your language? And just translate all the content with G translator? Then build some backlinks to those pages?

Links as stated already, content in local language, local domain, local hosting, meta tags stating for what country - this will improve your ranking alot
