Ok, so I'm trying to rank my personal homepage to the first page in google, currently at around page 5 when searching my name. Competition here is 10 guys with the same name and their social media profiles. Sounds easy but as a complete newbie in SEO I'm struggling with this a bit.
What I've done:
So my question is, what should I do in this situation to improve the ranking? There are a bunch of things I could do but have no idea which ones are actually important for ranking. Generally speaking, how does one rank for their own name?
What I've done:
- Built a static website from HTML template, MyNameIRL.com domain name, ~300 words content total and embedded social media profiles.
- Basic SEO, metadescriptions and schema.org/person markup. Still a ton of work to do everything properly.
- Linked to the website in all of my social media profiles.
- Bought 800 "social signals" from Fiverr for 5$ (possibly a mistake?)
- Registered to Google webmasters and submitted a sitemap
