Ranking Drops After a Backlink(It's Been 1 Month)

Hey guys..As the title says..One of my blog post's ranking drops right after I bought a guest post backlink from a high authority site. It's a genuine guest post. I have done my own outreach and they asked me $70 for a ******** link.

I've waited until today(It's been more than a month) and the post's ranking hasn't come back to the previous position.
It was on page #3 of google before I sent the link and now it's on page #14.

Additional Informations :

I used a partial match anchor(ex: the keyword is: "college backpack" so I used "popular college backpacks").
And I've never built any links to the post before.
The domain is 3+ moths old.
It's on beauty niche
Backlink Strategies: Whitehat only (Web 2, Guest post, etc)

So, What happen with the blog post? Does the backlink cause this ranking drop?
I'm really frustrated with this issue since $70 isn't a small amount of money for a newbie like me.

Please help me guys..

Its not issue with you. My website ranking also dropped a week ago. Might be a Google update. Wait till a week sometimes we get our ranking back, also check your search console for any errors.

might not related to the backlink. these days google is not consistent for me also.

If you're still in the rankings you're good. Google is just testing and seeing what's going on.

They like to play mind games too, trust me, I had this happen all the time when doing my first SEO site.

You just need to wait and the ranking will return, with you probably at #1.

Don't sweat it, just work on other stuff in the mean time.

Then you'll wake up one morning and check to see yourself sitting at #1 and wondering why you ever worried.

Thanks bro.But the post is the only affected page. It means, no other pages have experienced the ranking drop.

There are too many variables involved for anyone of us to answer your question correctly. Google can hate your website even if you do everything right.

This is the reason why I hate depending on SEO. Its extremely unpredictable unless you're really a master at it.

Paid ads + Cold email is my favorite form of marketing.

One link isn't going to drop you that much unless your link profile is minimal, which I'm guessing it is. You need to build more links because 1 link isn't going to do it. Also that 1 link you built is probably a new page. Send some link pointing at the page the link is on. Send some social signals, bookmarks, forum links, and some cheap PBN links to tier it up.

Don't worry about it too much. Just continue to build high quality links. And also expand your marketing to other channels such as social media sites. Don't rely on Google only.

can you tell us when what date you bought your link? there was a major google update on march 12th. You very well could be noticing the effect of that update instead the backlink.

It is definetely backlink, since you are saying youre blog is 3 months old. It is not necessary to build backlink at that age. You already lost it ranking, perhaps you can disavow the backlink and hoping for the rank to get back to its old position. Or just build another ranking post but without building any link until you reach the authority age.

As for google inconsistency that affect everyone, they should allready ranking back to their position by now. Cause if your post affected by google mistake your post would be thrown to page 3 from the page 1 it's no more than that. But, you thrown to page 14 means there must be backlink fault.

Rankings tends to fluctuate with google updates. So it takes some time to get stabilised...so better wait.
