So im ranking on page 1 for a keyword that gets about 300k exact searches a month, but currently im at the 8th position. I would think with a keyword with that many search at least I would be getting a little more traffic to my site than 100 or so a day. Is this about how much percentage of traffic lower spots on the first page receive? Also what would be the best way to give my site the extra boost to move up further. I was 9th a few days ago so I did move up one spot and haven't been bouncing around that much as of yet. I have already done article blasting with AMR and use senuke a bit, and did some scrapebox blasting but only to index backlinks and not to my main site yet.

100 a day = 700 a week = 2800 a month

mmm 8th = <1%?

thats weird...

is your keyword trademarked?
are the top results much more preferable than your site to visit for a regular consumer? is your title only keywords? did u make it pop out and sound enticing for people to visit?

Remember, you need to have both SEO and a good introductory pitch to the average consumer so get the best bang for your buck!

I can't find my copy but google "click heat map" or something similar and it will show you that if you're #8 you may as well be #14. Positions 1-5, or "above the fold" is where you need to be to really see results. my travel site just dropped from #1 to #9 after the farmer update and it has cut our business on that term to about 5%

I have read a few people that have ranked for "high volume" keywords and only received a % of the traffic they were expecting.

Brush ya self of and move on.

yea its exact according to market samurai and google and its not exactly a brand name but the first spot site does have the exact match domain. I'm sure the first 3 spots are getting most of the traffic because according to compete they get a good percentage of their traffic from the keyword. Also I have tweaked my title and description to sound more enticing while still keeping the keyword there. Guess I'll keep trying to see if change in position brings in any more traffic. Also would it make a difference that I haven't been on the first page that long and google analytics shows 60,000 impressions so far and only 70 clicks

An enticing title and description could definitely help you out.

And keep on doing a wide variety of seo and you'll get there.
