Rank no #1 with subdomain?

Just wondering is it possible to Rank No#1 a very poor Competitive keywords with a sub domain? http://xxxx.xxxx.com . I have no idea if some one has done this and how hard this is to rank. Some one please let me know. Thanks in advance

Yeah, Im doing it. Just Handle the same way you handle your main domain :)

If find it easy to rank subdomains for poor to low comp keywords.

Just do some backlinking as normal and you will be ranking good
 
From my experience, inner folders beat subdomains any day of the week! If inner folders aren't an option, you can still do it with a subdomain.
 
Should be no problem. Is the subdomain related to the niche of the main domain?
 
It is possible although inner folders would give more authority from your domain.

Yes, I would rather say there are even more subdomain based websites which rank in top than the main domains if you know what I mean ;-)
 
Question is this is why some Facebook pages rank high? That means I can use an affiliate link and still rank it high?
 
Give it a try and you will find out. You can use your domain redirecting to afflinks. First of all get your FB page high in G with your domain pointing into the air, once it get's high, redirect the domain to your afflinks and see what happens.
 
I have a question , how many sub domain is suitable? Does this have the max number?
 
I hate to bump such a old thread but i felt this was suitable. Recently I've been researching how I could better organize campaigns for a few different websites. In particular, I noticed you could silo your content and organize it through subdomains or just use subdirectories.

Heres a example of the niche:
1st tier: Sports
2nd tier Baseball, soccer etc
Content for soccer tier: How to play soccer, soccer ball reviews etc


After researching, I found about_com has a fairly good layout on this but I was wonder if anyone has any opinions on this before I start going through all the posts and possibly attempting it.


Maybe I'm just getting caught up in the issue and I should maybe just go with subdirectories? I appreciate the advice and answers!
 
I am curently ranking #3 with a subdomain with 12 mil competition. Its an amazon review product. Not many visitors so far. But I can tell you its working
 
Yes, you can rank a subdomain or a sub folder or a page within your domain. You can rank any page that you optimize for such purposes.
 
I have ranked some domains higher than the main domain. I once even had a forex subdomain totally dominate the front page. so yes, in extremely hard competion niches subdomains do work. Think of them as your own PBN without the costs. But remember the subdomain is treated as a totally new website. So you still have to work at it as if its your main site.
 
If I want to rank something like free movies online is it better to have a subdomain lets say ironman3.xxxxx.com or to try ranking it with xxxxx.com/ironman3/ . I think that I can rank better for one keyword with a subdomain, but will the backlinks to the " xxxxx.com/ironman3/ " help the xxxxx.com/spiderman2/ ?

I was about making new threads about same question .. from what I seen subdomain beating subdirectory if your main domain have extra authority trust with Google .
I done experience with subdomain and I went to page three without building any links . even the main domain have very low authority . but looks like Google still love Nice on subdomains . I hope if have more resource and experience to rank main domain higher but thing are not easy as it was .
Last for sure Google treated subdomain as new domain but with advantage of main domain authority .

Exactly!

The reason is that Google treats subomains as unique domains. (It's been proven several times in different case studies and of course, by my experience ;) )
