Got an interview for a "SEO Job" tomorrow and this time, I'm going because of the location of the job.

Not sure what they will be asking me.

Anyone got particular topics which I could prepare for? One thing in my mind to review for is theory of .htaccess and robot.txt in SEO practice.

What are the reasons we should NOT choose you? Always be prepared for that.

"Gaming site" That will come in handy.

True. Damn there was a really nice guidelines to giving a nice interview which I was reading seven months back. Wish I could recall them right now. One of them was to show interest if they ask in the end "Do you want to ask any more question".

Will be reviewing Google search syntax and Google Algorithm updates. Going to 'audit' their site as well.

What's you biggest default ? - avoid perfectionist. I'd answer either "never satisfied" or "lazy - which means i find smart way to do the job you ask for, improve the efficiency"

I really like "never satisfied". Thanks for the tip

Going to find articles on "behavioral" questions which usually are asked in interviews.

Definitely not. Don't want to end up in jail :p

There are so many tools to choose from

    1. Google Keyword Planner [lol]
    2. Google Analytics
    3. LongtailPro
    4. Spyfu
    5. Ubersuggest
    6. Import.io
    7. Wanna list them all!

Do you think scraping tools are considered "blackhat"? I don't think so. Got some Facebook scrapers, one paid and other free

I hate interviews. The whole idea of "selling yourself" from capitalists and idiots to companies reminds me of slavery.
I never had a proper job, though.
That's why I run my own company my way, unsuccessfully so far, but time and efforts will tell.
Just tell them you're a great content writer and you've ranked Matt Cutts for viagra keywords.

As a self employed person you are constantly selling yourself and every sales call you make is an interview.

Change your mindset to appreciating that you have something to offer, and want to share that offering to others in terms of providing whatever you are, in a way that is typically catered to your client in once fashion or another, and you may pick up more business and become successful.

Successful business people serve clients at their pleasure.

I live in the UK, but I'm from Europe.
I tried to look for jobs for 3 years, I really tried.
I never had luck with interviews. I only had short term jobs, which I never liked. I also don't get along with people, which I think is holding back my advancement.
I understand that business is about providing good service or products to others, which honestly I haven't done so far. I just built some crappy sites for Clickbank products and haven't earnt a penny yet.

If you want to be successful in business you need to lay down the ego and self centered thinking and learn to play nicely in the sandbox with others and you need to provide good services and products.

In fact if you want to be successful as an employee you need to do that as well.

It was a joke. I found it funny :p

True mate. But I'm in desperate times. Need to find ways to pay the bills and get some money rolling in.

Also it's nice knowing people in real life who have interest in the relevant field. Never been social all my life and was burning up bridges.

But I think it's necessary right now for me to be.

Thanks Greg. Nice blog at ypick.me.
I really have no idea how to proceed with CJ.
They seem to have more "sellable" products from real companies, than clickbank does

Behavioral questions are the fucking worst and I despise them. If you're honest, it looks bad but you go for the standard bullshit answers and you look like you're just bullshitting. Interviewers who ask these types of questions are people you don't want to work for. ha

I actually haven't had one of those stupid "what is your weak point" or something like that in a long time. I one time had a guy who asked me what my friends would say about me if they were to describe me. I said "troll and prankster." Got the job. He later said that he took that to mean "crafty" and he liked it.

I also tell jokes, make fun of myself, and throw in some sarcasm. But I'm IT and IT people are cynical bastards.

I have found great success in interviews by just being flat out honest and the less desperate you are, the better you'll do. I've gotten offers when I just don't give a fuck, but when I really need it is when I start failing because I feel like I need to say the right things. Got an offer once with the contingency that I needed to change my hair. Fuck that. I declined. If they are concerned about hair, they reeeeally wont' like me.

So, I suggest being flat out honest even if the honesty is masked with some professional verbiage.

SEO is kinda marketing, a little technical and these fields are less uppity than something like finance. Of course, every interviewer is different. Remember an interview is not only for them, but it's also for you to determine if you'll make a good fit with their team.

Just came back from the interview. The interview was just so pathetic. Nothing technical. Just the usual SEO question like what do you do for on-site? Have you managed to move a site up the ranking? etc.

The pay is so bad. Will not go. Their justification is "you don't have any practical experience working with people" so we will pay you 250-350 bucks for 'SEO Expert" during our two month probation period. "Money isn't an issue for us because we have many clients". I forgot to ask what will my pay be after the probation period ended and fully satisfied your needs.

Gave me two tasks to complete just to "test" me.

Going to ignore this SEO sweat shop company. The 'CEO" chills in Dubai,
