hey BHW,

I know this is a crazy idea but I think my 9-5 job prevents me from IM success. I sit 8 hours a day in front of a computer in an office and it's really boring. After home time I'm not very motivated to work on IM because my job makes me dull and despite of hobbies and personal goals I don't want to spent all my rare spare time at home in front of my laptop.

So, my idea was to quit my job and live from welfare instead - till I built some good income streams online. In my country this isn't really a problem because it's a social state. I already had small success thanks to BHW and I earned some money but I want to scale it up and do this fulltime because I absolutely hate my job and I can't really enjoy life because of it.

I have to say, that I don't need much money because I'm a very economical person and I don't have to pay high rent or other useless stuff like television, etc. With welfare, I would make myself a structured plan for everyday, so I can work 8 hours a day (or even more) on Internet Marketing and the best of all I have a lot of spare time too.

The only thing that holds me back from taking action is the feeling of beeing a sucker [person who deliberately lives off of someone else's aid and support] What do you guys think about this?

No, no and no again in my opinion. This is the worst idea ever, if you fail at IM, you'll probably fail most of your life over here, can't you work on IM from your job?

8 hours a day, 5 days a week isn't that much. Now if you were working 100 hours a week as a slave at Goldman Sachs, then I could understand. Weekends and late nights should be enough to get you started if you're truly passionate and driven.

It depends on your job, and by the sounds of you being okay with living off welfare, I'm assuming it's a minimum wage job.

At the end of the day, regardless of what anyone says below me, do what will makes you happy.

I know exactly how you feel man. I did exactly the same thing a few months ago. Now IM is still not where I would expected it to be, but I can't tell you how happy I am that every day I wake up and instead of going to the job I enormously hated I get to do what I love and learn new thinks and advance every day.
If you can afford it, I say go for it!

@auxiliarus I understand this but failing is not an option for me :) I work for a local Hosting company/Domain registry as support employee and therefore I don't have time to work on IM from my job. The only advantage is, I can get free Hosting there... but anyway it doesn't make me happy :(

If the people that pay taxes in your country can afford to pay you, I say go for it!

Fixed that for you.

Well, to be honest, it's not a bad idea - but you have to not forget to :

Have a safe-place to live in - like your parents, your friend, your girlfriend - in-case you can't keep up with your house.
Have some investment into IM.
Have at-least money for further 6 months of life.
These are just the minimum - I believe.

yeah you're right I definitively should have some kind of backup plan. Thank you for your replies so far guys! This really motivates me to work hard for my goals

Stop it right there, and listen to yourselves. Donut and millionaire.

I might give up work and go on benefits!!

If you can afford it go for it!!

My IM is still pants but I enjoy being a lazy shit and letting the rest of the workforce squander their retirement fund on me!!

If your not motivated enough to start something in your spare time your not motivated enough full stop.

If your on welfare and still not motivated enough then your just making excuses for being on benefits, like so many of them who have changed their Facebook profile from unemployed to self employed, because that's what it has become to some ######s. Which means our pensioners, our sick and disabled our truly in need are not getting the help that I happily pay taxes to provide because soft twats want to live the lazy Sunday lifestyle.

Hope it works out.

Welfare is not

Yeah, the way i see it if you give up your job to sit around and do IM its not something you really want.

Having a job gives you more resources even though you have less time to get it done. Also instead of helping your countrymen you are creating a bigger burden.

Do what the successful people here did, work do IM on the side and when the money is coming in THEN leave your job.

For the love of God do not go on welfare its take away your dignity your self worth. I was on welfare for 10 months, and having to go to the job centre signing on all the time is depressing, the job centre put you in category as the yobs.

I don't care how hard your job is, you can still get home and do some extra 5 hours shift on your pc, weekend time spend it all working. The mins you go welfare route without plan, you will be trapped.

Please reconsider going welfare route. IM is not easy to make money in, but knowing you have a weekly wage go in your account will make your life a lil better, but waiting every 2 weeks to get paid peanut by the goverment, and IM not giving you sufficient money, depression will creep into your soul in no time.

If you lack motivation after work, you'll lack motivation when don't have to work.
Unless you have a real reason why you can't focus on IM after your dayjob (like having a family that needs attention), don't do it.

no really, being a entrepreneur litterally means "undertaker" ...

just working 2 hours a day after work should be enough to get SOMETHING going.... if you can get something going, then think about quitting your job,

.... unless you feel like gambling offcourse or just looking for an excuse to quit your job...

Don't quit. Keep your job, and deal with the boredom. If you can't, don't bother trying IM. It isn't all sunshine and daisies.

OP, it is a terrible idea.
If you can't get motivated after work and weekends then there is no guarantee you would be motivated at any other time.

I know a lot of the Guru's claim they were jobless, homeless etc but why take a step back when you can take a step forwards.

At least with a steady wage you will have money to invest into projects.

Welfare is a bad decision.

Please don't quit your job and go on welfare just because it's what you want to do. Trust me, I've wanted to do this so many times (minus the welfare part, I refuse to take that), but I'm really glad I've stuck with my job.

Just to put things in perspective, I work 8-4 M-F, but I also made $6K in the last two weeks from IM. Throw my paycheck in there and it's $7K. I won't quit my job for full-time IM until I've got $100K saved (could very well have this accomplished by the end of the year, even while working full time).

At the end of the day it's your life and your decision, but I think you'll be a lot happier with yourself if you pull this off without quitting your job.

LOL

As tomorrow is April 15th - TAX Day - I have one thing to say to you: FUCK YOU.

People like YOU that FUCK business owners and tax payers.

Not sure where you are from, and frankly I don't care.

The fact is that with your mentality SOMEONE else will be supporting you while you chase a dream.

BE A FUCKING MAN.

Sure, quit your job....go for it...but eat peanut butter and jelly for every meal and feel the struggle - don't go on welfare to support yourself.

You want someone to fan your down and wipe your ass too while you learn?

Actually, DO NOT quit your job - it is evident that you will NEVER make it if you even considered using welfare to springboard your IM career.
