Quit Day Job to work Online fulltime ?

Many individuals seem to sing the praise of working for themselves online, but is it really what its cut out to be ? How many blackhatters do online work be it content producing, affiliate marketing , web work etc and never looked back or never plan to look back and go into conventional 9 -5 work again ?

Can a family man or woman earn a living say for example just writing content ? When asked by someone what's your profession, what should one really say ? After spending so much money studying in university only not to have a job because of a company downsizing, recession or being layed off can you really stay afloat online ? Someone speak to me ? Does online work have a shelf life ?

Curious

You can definitely make a living online.. hell, you can make a lot more than a "living". However, writing articles or doing other simple tedious tasks wont make you too much. It's not a bad idea to start there, but you need to think bigger.. if articles are your thing, get into outsourcing and do it aggressively. Don't be afraid to invest your time (or money) if it's something you really believe in.

All good words of encouragement for everyone. As a newbie, it seems common links include, persevence, research, and devotion.

No way dude .... I actually quit my job *today* so I could put more time and effort into my online projects that are making more money than my job was in the UK. Felt guilty on my colleagues, real bad ... but my boss is an arse tho.

Congratulations! I hope there will be very little time in the future where it's necessary for me to have a 9-5...

If you are starting out on Internet Marketing... it will probably take some trial and error to start getting some money...

But once you pass that stage ... then you can sure make a great living from it...

i was thinking about it, but then i got fired anyway, made burgers to slow. o well.

If I ever had to go back to a 9-5 I think I would shoot myself. There is plenty of money to be made online, just have to find the right niche, and try to avoid as many landmines as possible. My suggestion would be to learn web design and online advertising first. After that it gets pretty easy.

You..Tube..watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc

Maybe this explains the whole motivation thing for 9-5er's? Whatever you take from it, I love it. Really well put together video.

It can definitely be done. I was working a shitty part-time corporate job and got fired after 6 months. 2 weeks later I was making $100-200 a day from a youtube cpa campaign and I only put 5 hours or so of work into it a week. This was with pretty much no experience in IM and my first attempt. I just graduated college and my school was setting up interviews for me. Come to find out, none of the jobs that I was getting interviews for were even close to what I am making now.

I have already quit my 9-5 job... To be precise i was fired ...
But i continue to Stay foolish and stay hungry..
I was paid good by the company which i worked for.
But its my time to create my own company and go ahead with that..
Bit struggling now..but very confident of making good money..cheers..

I am at that turning point in my finances right now...

I work full time but the company is not looking so great and I am sooo burned out of 9 - 5. I dont think I was really ever made for a 9 - 5 job...

Any way I have been doing internet marketing, web design, coaching for about 1.5 years now. My side biz is doing good. I just matched this year what I made all of last year so I am REALLY busy but am managing my family, day job, and side job ok right now..

My day job pays me about 50K - 60K per year but I am fast approaching that with my side job this year and may even pass it up by the year end...

I am getting really used to all the money and I know that 50K is a good chunk for the normal joe but now that I have both streams coming in it is going to be hard to just quit.

I get a ton of blow back from every one around me that is close (mainly family) and they all think it is a dream to be self employed and do any good...

They are wrong and I know it, and I know that IF i did quit I couldnt even imagine how many new opportunities and projects I could get rolling having all day to work for my self. And have my nights free again.

So, I was just venting to who ever wants to listen...

...and done. Still debating what i should do even though i think i just keep putting off the inevitable of me going on my own full time.

thanks for reading..

PS. I need someone to help me send out a bunch of email 280K total over a period of a week or two... PM me.

The question I as is would I make more money if I quit? Short term? Long term? How many baskets do you have to put your eggs in? What if one or two of them flips? How are you then? I believe in building, diversifying, spreading your net far and wide. You don't want to be out on the street just because you thought you had a great year until facebook cracked down on your spam or something.

I work online fulltime but it took an area of transition from offline to online. I probably
could make the money I make online, offline but I would have to go to work to do that.
If you don't have the mentality to consider online work as a self employed business
you should stick to the 9 to 5 slavery.

^^Ditto! The money my parents spent on my high priced edu could have been better spent on me learning IM... the shoulda, coulda, woulda's of life...

I'm contemplating leaving my 9 to 5 right now :o, I'm certain I will I'm just giving it a few more weeks. I've always worked online PT but I think i may make the switch. Thank God I'm familiar with some of the tools needed to work online FT lol

Well,i'm opening my own offline business with money i've get from IM :D
Fortunately, i live in a town with small amount of people doing IM. So, i can get lots of benefit from it.
