Quit Day Job to work Online fulltime ?

It's possible. I never had a 9 to 5 job. A few part time jobs to get by but never a 9 to 5.

Started before I got married and still going strong. My husband does work outside the home and we don't have any children (yet).

And only about 2% or less, is blackhat.

If you don't mind me asking, what projects exactly are you involved in ? On average how much do you make per month ?

You'll know when you can quite your real job for an online income. I started out with a simple e-commerce website that started making me money from day one. A month later I quit my job and became a full time internet marketer. I've been self employed ever sense (5+ years). I had the support of my family and friends too, so that helped.

If you find a market where what you offer is well paid and competitive, you will eventually and naturally choose to focus on it rather than on anything else. The point is finding the fields where your efforts are successful and the revenue maximized, and bringing the quality of your efforts above the competition....

There are many different opportunities to create streams of income online. Tons of different Niche markets.

I have been working from home for 4 months now after up and leaving my comfy job high and dry and could not be more happy.

It creates a sort of shock, or reality and forces you to become solely independent. Leaving your 9-5 should be your first goal weather your ready or not.

Growing a business from home is hard work, there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme, only real business models that can be leveraged to create a high ROI.

as tempting as it is to just blurt out the strategy I used to create my financial freedom, its not effective form of marketing. one needs to lead with value.

I quit my job in less than 2 months of being online but i was doing $20k a month within 3 months and didn't know what a Google slap was.
Just make sure you get consistency because you fall hard when you put all your eggs on one basket before you have a stable sustainable business.

All the replies are amazing, so I felt compelled to add my own view on this topic.

I had been working for a pharmaceutical as a programmer-analyst, webmaster, Oracle and MSSQL dba and a project manager with my PMP (and other titles as well) and got laid-off in mid 2007 after more than 7 years of servitude. I had a very good salary, but not enough time to fully enjoy life.

I am now my own boss doing home renovations, and my IM work is still a part-time income because I have a family to feed with a 2nd child coming in about 4 months.

Like a lot of you guys, I still do my 9-5 (but as my own boss though), and IM is at night time when everybody sleeps. I still manage to put in about 4 hours daily in IM. It's hard work. And I do more hours than in my previous job, but at least I'm free and I learn something new everyday...

To OP: Plan your move carefully. It is very easy to fall for the get-rich-scheme the IM world too often promises. But never forget the rewards are there for you to take...

I have quit my job a long time ago, but I'm actually struggling rigtht now. My organization skills have declined to a point where I need major rehaul.

Diversifying and building an actual content rich group of sites to blanket a market and effectively SEO is crucial to building a lasting business.

1) work X hours, make Y amount of money (money is linearly proportional to time spent working)
2) scaling $X/year to $2X/year is impossible (work harder -> same salary)
3) getting laid off means $0 income (having 1 job = all eggs in 1 basket)

online:
1) create multiple systems, systems make $X/day for you even while you're sleeping
2) scaling $X/year to $2X/year just involves adding more systems & optimizing existing campaigns (work harder -> more money)
3) if 1 system completely fails you still got 80% of your income from other projects that are still running

it's an obvious choice for me

I'm earning only from online..

I have several blogs (ads/adsenses/referral links/amazon, etc.), write for content sites, and have private clients I write for. Sorry but won't go into my monthly average or yearly earnings as I mentioned before I never had a 9 to 5 job.

Just recently I've tried auto-blogging (didn't work wasn't getting traffic or ad clicks) however I've gotten a semi-autoblog to work.

Its all what you make it. There are no exact rules set by nature (or by your boss) on what is or isn't capable in IM.

Are you comfortable with losing everything?

Choose wisely. I made my choice almost 4 years ago and haven't looked back since, but it wasn't always easy going. You've got to have an entreprenuerial spirit to make it.

Forget the days of getting a steady paycheck - those days are over.

Like I said, pick your posion. I don't mind not having a steady paycheck knowing that I'll make much more working much less. Its a process. Get ready for it, or go back to your day job.

Well i think internet marketing is the sh1t. if you can get a constant passive income and then make multiple revenues of money then scale it up as you go along. testing is the most important thing in im test test test.

I rather work 12hr a day for myself than be a slave to society, you can be the most loyal employee the company ever had but they will have no loyalty to you they will drop you fast.

If im going to make somebody rich rather let it be myself.

Working for yourself is harder, many people don't want to be responsible for their income its alot of stress and is easier to work for someone else that just tells you what to do to get paid.

Sink the ships, burn the bridges, cut all ties, and don't look back. Fear of losing everything is a powerful motivator. Only you will know if you got what it takes. Some "men" cant fail...

I have to say those of us trying hard at IM must seem really arrogant. People don't realize we need such extreme self-confidence to counterattack all the sand our social environment kicks in our face in an attempt to discourage us. Success is inevitable. Robots will take control of the base soon enough.

I don't know if I want to do IM as a career. It's not just the money. I'd like to do IM to bank a lot and support myself in other efforts like writing. It depends, really. I want to feel like I'm contributing to society. Generating income isn't enough for me to consider myself as contributing. Of course, I can always just try and establish a fortune then give to charity, lol.

I was doing it full time and making decent money. Unfortunately for me, the industry I was in is practically dried out and the "content provider" that I was writing for eventually dropped off the map without paying me the last amount of money I earned. This is someone I spent a lot of time working for and thought I trusted. Things have been really hard since then. I haven't been able to really find enough work to make it and if I weren't sick I'd go out there and try to find a 9-5. Things get hard, but if you find something that is worth it then stick it out.

I am internet marketing since 2005. I'm doing IM as a parttime. Really, I have no idea to quit my dayjob any sooner. IM is full of ups and downs and of course, I am making decent income through affiliate marketing.

I couldn't agree more. I started from rock bottom myself. Didn't have a job to start with. Started with my old 3kg dell laptop with the help of my neighbour's "free" wifi. Blackhat since the day i was born i the IM world and never looked back, never will... i have so much plans for my future. A bit contrary to you. I'm in for the money and TIME. Call me selfish but my priority is my family and my own financial and time freedom. If one day i become a multimillionaire then may be i'll do something for the society. For now i'll just stick to spreading good words about making money online and working out .
