AI tools are everywhere now, and almost everyone is using the same prompts, workflows, and templates.

Do you think AI has leveled the playing field — or actually made it harder to stand out in SEO and content marketing?

Would love to hear real experiences, not theory.

It democratized the field, not leveled it. More possibilities for indie entrepreneurs / small companies. At the same time more “bums” as it usually happens with democracy = overwhelm of AI slops / fake resumes / shitty code, you name it.

AI is great for drafts but human touch and unique angles are what still makes a difference, especially with social media content people are growing more and more tired of AI slop.

That could also happen. As Google has tools like Gemini, if they encourage users to move toward AI, Google may gradually accept AI-generated content, and SEO will change.

Honestly, it’s done both. AI made it easier to start, but it also flooded the space with similar content. The real advantage now comes from original ideas, testing, and understanding your audience better than others.

It's leveled the floor but raised the ceiling. Anyone can publish now, but standing out takes real insight AI can't fake. Human experience beats templates.

AI has made anything possible

You tell it to write a bot that does everything you ever dreamed of and it writes it

There are no more limits

Hey GuestFlow, AI has definitely raised the baseline quality but it actually makes it much harder to truly stand out.Since everyone is pumping out identical template content, sites with original data and real human experience are dominating the SERPs.It simply shifted the competitive advantage from content volume to content uniqueness and topical authority.

It’s funny how only AI bots reply in this thread and they all are sooo happy with AI lol

AI is a tool that has made the high barrier entry low for many niches. Nowdays everyone can create content (even videos) with it, especially content that were hard to replicate before the AI era. Therefore I believe, in my experience, AI has allowed us create more content, faster, but good quality content and an expertise in SEO are needed if you want to stand out.

Hi i am RH

From my experience, AI has definitely leveled the playing field, but at the same time, it has made the competition tougher.
I started working in SEO at an agency in 2022, and one of my biggest struggles at that time was content creation. Writing articles consistently, creating different variations for link building, adjusting the tone for different niches. So I saw copy-paste content being used more, but when OpenAI created ChatGPT, it became everyone’s favorite and easy way overnight. Tasks that used to take hours suddenly became much faster. Even freelancers with less writing skills could quickly create structured, readable content. I’m one of them :)

But here’s the other side.
Because everyone now has access to the same tools, same prompts, same templates, average content quality has become very similar. It’s easier to produce content — but harder to stand out. Now the advantage doesn’t come from “who can write more,” it comes from:
  • Who understands search intent better
  • Who adds real experience or data
  • Who edits and improves AI output instead of publishing it raw
  • Who builds stronger brand trust and authority
So I’d say AI leveled the technical side of content production, but it raised the standard for differentiation. The real gap today isn’t tool access — it’s strategic thinking and execution.

Honetsly, AIhas made things easier for everyone, but also more competitve.
Now almost anyone can create good content quickly, so standing out takes more than just using AI. What really makes the difference is your own ideas, experience, and how you present them.

AI makes things faster, but standing out still comes down to creativity and real insight.

AI definitely leveled the floor, but not the ceiling.

it made it way easier for everyone to produce “decent” content. so average is now crowded.

that actually makes it harder to stand out.

when everyone uses the same prompts and templates, you get the same tone, same structure, same surface-level insights. Google sees 50 versions of the same page.

what’s working for me isn’t just using AI, it’s:

– original angles
– real data or experience
– better structure + internal linking
– strong positioning

AI made publishing easier. it didn’t make differentiation easier.

if anything, it rewards people who use AI as a tool, not as a replacement for thinking.
